Which university will the two male students from Ha Tinh who won gold medals at the International Math Olympiad choose?

Tran Minh Hoang (Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted) and Vo Trong Khai (Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted) both enrolled in domestic schools.

In 2025, Vietnam will have 23 candidates in the international Olympic team in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Information Technology. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , they will be exempted from graduation exams and directly admitted to universities.

Of the 17 12th graders, one is studying abroad, the rest are enrolled in domestic schools. The most popular major is Medicine with 5 students. Next is Computer Science (4 students), Physics (3 students). The rest are Mathematics, Materials Science, Data Science, Chemistry.

Specifically, 5 students entered the talented bachelor program, in the right major at the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University , Hanoi . They are Minh Hoang (gold medal in International Mathematics), Ba Khoi, The Quan, Duc Dung (Physics), Minh Quang (Chemistry).

Hanoi Medical University has 4 candidates in this category, all of whom chose to study Medicine. They are Hoang Khoi, Duc Dung (International Chemistry Olympiad), Huu Thanh, Kieu An (Biology). The remaining 12th grade member of the Biology team is Dai Duong, who also studies Medicine, but at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology and University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) each have two students admitted directly, namely Trong Khai, Duc Man (International Mathematical Olympiad), Cong Vinh (Physics) and Kien Thanh (Informatics). All four chose Computer Science.

Leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh welcomed Tran Minh Hoang (Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted) and Vo Trong Khai (Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - hometown of former Nghi Xuan district) after winning gold medals at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad in 2025 in Australia and returning to Hanoi.

The rest, Quang Thang (International Informatics Olympiad) chose National Economics University, majoring in Data Science; Thien Nhan (Physics) studied Materials Science at Phenikaa University.

The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the last school year had been effective in selecting and training excellent international students. Vietnam maintained its position in the top 10 at international Olympic competitions.

In addition to being admitted directly to university, students who win gold medals will be awarded 55 million VND, silver and bronze medalists will be awarded 35 and 25 million VND respectively. Localities also have their own reward policies, up to hundreds of millions of VND.
