As the enterprise holding the largest market share in the milk and dairy products industry in Vietnam, Vinamilk has faced challenges in managing and controlling the delivery process such as ensuring that goods are delivered correctly and in full to customers, shortening delivery time... The enterprise estimates that the manual delivery image checking process alone requires a large staff, with operating costs of up to more than 3 million USD per year.

Instead of expanding its staff, Vinamilk has boldly applied artificial intelligence solutions to automate the entire image processing process. The new system is capable of processing huge volumes of images, ensuring high accuracy and significantly saving operating costs.

From challenge to breakthrough solution

Appearing at the biggest event of the year of Amazon Web Services (AWS - the world's leading cloud computing platform developed by Amazon) in Vietnam with more than 1,700 attendees, Vinamilk attracted special attention from experts as the only fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) enterprise with a booth introducing the digital transformation journey.

Many event attendees expressed surprise that a manufacturing company would be present at a technology-focused event to showcase its in-house technological capabilities.

A special feature of Vinamilk's digital transformation journey is the creation of a working environment that encourages creativity and innovation. Employees are free to explore and apply new technologies to develop solutions that help optimize business operations. With the above characteristics, Vinamilk has chosen AWS as its core platform, thereby mastering technology and its digital transformation journey.

“Not only does it help reduce labor costs, the automatic order coordination system developed by Vinamilk also opens the door to increased operational efficiency and outstanding scalability. Currently, this system has integrated sales agents using AI and a smart product recommendation system to support increased order conversion rates and increased sales,” said Mr. Eric Yeo - General Director of AWS Vietnam within the framework of the event.

The platform is also flexible enough to accommodate large promotional campaigns, as well as significantly shorten delivery times. In fact, at the Shopee e-commerce platform's 11/11/2024 shopping event, the system helped Vinamilk easily process orders 18 times higher than normal.

Master technology to control the pace of innovation

Along with rebranding, according to Vinamilk's 2025 annual report, digital transformation is one of the key strategic projects of the enterprise in the recent transformation. The vision of the leading unit in the Vietnamese dairy industry is to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem that is closely connected from production, distribution to sales and direct interaction with retailers and consumers.

“The ultimate goal is to optimize every aspect of operations to create a superior and sustainable competitive advantage,” the report said. While previously, optimizing a feature could take a business 2-3 months, now the internal technical team can complete the request in just a few weeks, or even 2-3 days with simple features. Typically, during the launch of the 1:1 Support campaign (You contribute 1 box, Vinamilk contributes 1 more box), Vinamilk programmed an ordering website within 24 hours, promptly supporting the people in the North affected by Typhoon Yagi at the end of 2024.

Vinamilk's recent steps in the e-commerce market can be seen as the initial success of this bold strategy. According to Metric's report, Vinamilk is the only pure Vietnamese brand in the top 10 Brands with the highest sales in 2024 (data from 4 platforms Shopee, Lazada, Tiki and Sendo), up nearly half compared to 2023. With this result, the brand is currently ranked 7th in the group of brands with the highest sales on e-commerce platforms in Vietnam, up 2 places compared to the same period.
