Responding to tropical depression near the East Sea

With the forecast that the tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean is moving into the East Sea and becoming storm No. 11, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense has asked 15 coastal provinces and cities to respond early to this storm.

On the afternoon of October 1, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning about a tropical depression operating in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines).

At this time, the center of the tropical depression is at about 14.5 degrees North latitude - 130.9 degrees East longitude, the strongest wind near the center is level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting to level 9. The tropical depression is moving west at a speed of about 15 km/h.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the tropical depression will move in the West-Northwest direction at a speed of 15-20km/hour, likely to strengthen into a storm. From October 2 to 3, the storm will continue to move in the West-Northwest direction at a speed of 20-25km/hour, making landfall in the eastern part of Luzon Island (Philippines), with a strength of level 9, gusting to level 11.

After October 3, the storm will continue to move mainly in the West-Northwest direction, at a speed of 25-30km/hour, entering the East Sea and is likely to continue to strengthen.

According to the Vietnam Meteorological Agency, from October 3, the Northeastern part of the East Sea will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, near the storm center to level 8, gusting to level 10, and waves 2.5-4.5m high. From October 4 to 6, the North East Sea, including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago (special zone), is likely to be affected by strong winds of level 10-11, gusting to level 14. Vehicles operating in this area are at risk, as they may be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.

After receiving a warning from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the same day, October 1, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep, member of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, signed an official dispatch to the People's Committees of 15 coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Lam Dong requesting proactive response to the tropical depression near the East Sea.
