3 people continue with first place, Vietnamese players dominate

From the afternoon of October 22 to the early morning of October 23, four Vietnamese players competed in the third qualifying round of the Veghel 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup 2024, including: Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Chi Long and Le Thanh Tien. Of which, Thanh Tu was scheduled to compete in the third qualifying round from the beginning. Hoan Tat, Chi Long and Thanh Tien excellently passed the second qualifying round to take first place in the group, with 2 wins in all 2 matches. This achievement was repeated by Hoan Tat, Chi Long and Thanh Tien in the third qualifying round.

In the third qualifying round, 48 players are divided into 16 groups (3 players each), playing a round robin to calculate ranking points. The winner of each group will win a ticket to the fourth qualifying round. Each match is worth 35 points, equal turns.

Le Thanh Tien continues to have a winning record in the third qualifying round.

Hoan Tat defeated Kokkoris (Greece) 35-23, defeated Maurer (Austria) 35-28. Nguyen Chi Long defeated Kiyota (Japan) 35-25, defeated De Kok (Netherlands) 35-34. Thanh Tien defeated Sung Il-jeong (Korea) 35-27 and defeated Wilkowski (Netherlands) 35-20. Hoan Tat, Chi Long and Thanh Tien excellently finished first in their group and advanced to the fourth qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu had 1 win and 1 loss, so he only finished second in group H. However, Thanh Tu was the second-placed player with the best record in the third qualifying round.

Thanh Tu won the "survival ticket" to participate in the fourth qualifying round.

Young player Chiem Hong Thai (scheduled to compete from the fourth qualifying round) due to family reasons did not attend the Veghel World Cup 2024. Therefore, in addition to the 16 players who finished first in the group, there was an additional "save ticket" for the second-place player with the best performance in the third qualifying round. And coincidentally, this "save ticket" belonged to Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu.

The fourth qualifying round of the Veghel 2024 World Cup will be played from the afternoon of October 23 to the early morning of October 24. The Vietnamese billiards team has 6 players: Tran Thanh Luc, Tran Duc Minh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Chi Long and Le Thanh Tien. Of which, Thanh Luc and Duc Minh were scheduled to compete in the fourth qualifying round from the beginning.

The number of players from Vietnam and Türkiye is the largest in the fourth (final) qualifying round of the Veghel 2024 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup, with each country having 6 players participating in this round.
