Authorities increase patrols and traffic control on National Highway 26

On the afternoon of January 28 (29th of Tet), the Traffic Police Department said that during the 4-day Lunar New Year holiday, there were 202 traffic accidents nationwide, taking the lives of 95 people and injuring 162 others.

Of these, on January 28 alone, 50 traffic accidents occurred, killing 17 people and injuring 48 people, all of which occurred on the road. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 35 fewer accidents, 23 fewer deaths, and 29 fewer injuries.

During the road patrols, local traffic police inspected, detected and handled 6,957 violations; detained 37 cars, 2,348 motorbikes and 43 other vehicles; revoked 284 driving licenses of all types and deducted driving license points from 725 cases.

The most common violations were alcohol concentration violations, with 1,896 cases handled, followed by speeding violations with 1,617 cases; overloading cargo with 5 cases; exceeding the size limit with 8 cases; carrying more people than the prescribed number of cases; and drug violations with 9 cases.

Highway traffic police teams under the Traffic Police Department inspected and recorded 46 cases (16 passenger cars, 8 trucks, 19 cars, 2 containers, 1 motorbike), revoked driving licenses of 3 cases, temporarily detained 3 vehicles, and deducted driving license points from 16 cases.

In addition, the traffic police force also detected 70 cases of vehicle violations through technical equipment, stopped and recorded 22 administrative violations, and sent notices to 48 vehicle owners; detected 24 violations through mobile patrols and video recording, recorded 13 cases, and sent notices to 11 cases.

In the waterway sector, Waterway Division I and Waterway Division II of the Traffic Police Department and local traffic police departments inspected, detected and handled two violations.
