This year's Tokyo Game Show's theme, “Unlimited, Neverending Playground,” is not only true to software products, but also represents the expanding technological frontiers across the industry.

AI: From New Trend to Game Development Platform

According to the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association (CESA) (the organizer of the Tokyo Game Show), more than 51% of Japanese game development companies have applied AI to the production process. AI has not stopped at testing but has been widely used in many stages.

Specifically, AI can draw game scenes, from landscapes, characters to small details such as patterns on walls or floors. It can also help write storylines and dialogue for characters, making the story in the game more vivid. Not stopping there, AI also automatically writes control commands and helps programmers detect and fix errors quickly.

It is worth noting that the game company Sega has established a “Generative AI Committee”, an internal committee that monitors and manages the application of AI in projects. This shows that AI is no longer an experimental auxiliary tool, but has become a seriously managed part of the production process. Many developers emphasize that AI plays a “supporting, not replacing” role, giving people more creative tools without losing the central role of designers and programmers.

AI-powered hardware: The highlight of technology companies

If AI has spread in software development, this year's hardware witnessed an explosion of AI-powered products. Among them, technology company MSI appeared impressively with a series of AI-powered products ranging from laptops, desktops to monitors and accessories.

Silent Storm Cooling AI heat dissipation technology also appears for the first time, optimizing cooling performance with smart algorithms.

Not only MSI, Thermaltake also surprised with the MagFloe Ultra AIO water cooler series. The special feature lies in the AI Forge feature: Users can enter AI prompts to create custom wallpapers or animations that are displayed directly on the small LCD screen mounted on the heatsink block. This is the first time generative AI technology has been integrated into PC components, making the cooler part of the aesthetic and personalized experience.

Tokyo Game Show 2025 paints a clear picture: The gaming and technology industries are entering an era of collaboration between human intelligence and artificial intelligence. And if this trend continues, AI will not just be a tool, but will become a “companion” for every developer and gamer in the future.
