Implementing many key projects

According to the Department of Construction of An Giang province, in the period of 2020 - 2025, the transport infrastructure in the province has undergone a strong transformation. Important transport routes of roads, inland waterways, seaports, and airports have been completed and put into operation, contributing to promoting economic restructuring and improving people's lives.

Effective use of State budget resources, Government bond capital, national target program capital, ODA loans... to invest in developing transport infrastructure has a direct impact on socio-economic development and strengthening national defense and security.

Over the past 5 years, An Giang province has mobilized resources estimated at 47,430 billion VND to implement transport projects. Up to now, 100% of the projects have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee, 66/66 projects have been started, 49/66 projects have been completed and put into use, reaching over 89%.

The project to build a regional connecting road from Tan Chau town to Chau Doc city, connecting with Kien Giang and Dong Thap provinces, was inaugurated and put into operation in August 2025.

With the attention and leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, these key traffic projects have been prioritized to focus resources for investment. Notably, key traffic works and projects have been completed and put into use, such as: Project to renovate and upgrade Lo Te - Rach Soi route; project to build a regional connecting road from Tan Chau town to Chau Doc city, connecting with Kien Giang and Dong Thap provinces.

Project to build a route connecting National Highway 91 and Long Xuyen City bypass ; sea dike road through Rach Gia; extended 3/2 road (provincial coastal road - section through Rach Gia area; coastal road from Rach Gia - Hon Dat ; provincial road DT.958 (Tri Ton - Vam Ray route); Muop Van bridge - provincial road DT.943; Kenh Xang bridge - provincial road DT.946; upgrading and expanding DT943 (section from Thoai Giang bridge to Muop Van bridge)...

These projects contribute greatly to building a synchronous and seamless transport network, promoting regional and intra-regional connectivity, creating leverage to promote socio-economic development and attract investment in the province in the coming time.

The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project, phase 1, through An Giang province, is being accelerated.

After many efforts in removing obstacles in material sources, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project phase 1, the section passing through An Giang province, is being accelerated with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", determined to complete the project in the soonest time... By September 26, the total construction output reached 59.81% (exceeding about 0.02% compared to the contract value), corresponding to the estimated realized output value of about 5,018 billion VND/8,391 billion VND.

Investment in transport infrastructure contributes to promoting regional and intra-regional connectivity, creating leverage to promote socio-economic development.

Mr. Doan Van Phung, owner of a consumer goods business in Long Xuyen ward, said: Currently, the connecting routes from Long Xuyen to Chau Doc, Tan Chau, Ha Tien or Rach Gia have all been expanded and upgraded, making the transportation of goods for businesses much more convenient than before.

“We expect the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway and other key traffic projects in the area to be completed soon. At that time, it will not only bring convenience in traveling for people but also create motivation for businesses to develop production and business,” Mr. Phung shared.

Creating leverage for socio-economic development

An Giang province has been investing in and constructing important national traffic projects such as: Ho Chi Minh Road, Lo Te - Rach Soi Expressway; Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway; the investment project to build a bridge on the coastal road connecting from An Bien - Rach Gia is preparing to be implemented; the investment project to expand Phu Quoc International Airport, Rach Gia Airport; Phu Quoc International Passenger Port; Rach Gia Passenger Port...

In the future, the province will have a strategic position in terms of economy, security and defense, creating conditions for the province to integrate and develop, opening up important economic exchanges, bringing An Giang closer to the key economic region of the South and especially Ho Chi Minh City, the economic and financial center of the country.

According to the Department of Construction, in the period of 2025 - 2030, An Giang province has identified the development of transport infrastructure as one of the important breakthroughs to promote economic development. To achieve the above goal, the province will continue to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management, decentralize management associated with implementation organization and promote the responsibility of Party committees and authorities in implementing programs and projects to invest in socio-economic infrastructure.

Promote the effective use of budget capital to lead and act as seed capital to attract investment resources in economic sectors other than state capital, creating momentum for economic growth. In particular, overcome the situation of scattered, scattered, and prolonged investment, contributing to improving investment efficiency in accordance with the goals and orientations of the province's socio-economic development strategy and plan.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai, along with leaders of central ministries, branches and An Giang province, inspected the construction progress of the Phu Quoc International Airport Project.

Along with that, the province focuses resources on investing in essential infrastructure of industrial zones, clusters, tourist areas, industrial service areas... At the same time, prepare and create the most favorable conditions to attract investors to the province such as locations, coordinate implementation of compensation and site clearance, resettlement, human resource training....

Complete the set of investment criteria to maximize local advantages, attract projects in line with the province's development orientation; stipulate a number of policies to support small and medium enterprises in the 2026 - 2030 period; effectively implement investment incentive and preferential policies in the province...

The Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project is being urgently implemented.

Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc said: The province focuses on investing and synchronously planning traffic infrastructure such as expanding key routes connecting to key economic zones, linking industrial parks, tourist areas, and logistics centers, to strengthen regional connectivity, promote trade, develop tourism, and improve the efficiency of the supply chain in the region.

“With synchronous investment in transport infrastructure, the province hopes to strongly attract non-budgetary investment into the locality. Key transport infrastructure projects not only help connect trade but also create favorable conditions for businesses and attract strategic investors,” said Mr. Ngo Cong Thuc.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony of projects serving the APEC 2027 Summit Week to welcome the 1st Congress of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, towards the 14th National Party Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested that ministries, branches, agencies, units, especially An Giang province, must concentrate and thoroughly grasp the spirit of "what is said is done, what is committed is done" to complete works and projects to ensure safety, quality, technique, aesthetics and meet progress.
