For nearly 30 years, Con Dao National Park (Ho Chi Minh City) has been the first place in Vietnam to successfully and effectively implement a sea turtle conservation and rescue program. This work has made a very important contribution to the national and regional biodiversity action strategy.

Every year, from June to October, about 400 mother turtles come to the sandy beaches of Con Dao National Park to nest and lay eggs. More than 150,000 baby turtles have been born and released into the sea, with a successful hatching rate of up to 87%. During peak season, some beaches on Hon Bay Canh and Hon Tre Lon have 10-20 mother turtles coming to nest every night.
