Specifically, the event was honored in the category of Arts, Entertainment & Public Festival, while the opening art program Legendary Train continues to win the Gold Award in the Cultural Event category. The 2025 IBA Awards Ceremony will take place on October 10 in Portugal.
IBA is a prestigious award under the Stevie Awards system (USA), called by the New York Post "The Oscars of the economic field". After 22 seasons, in 2025, IBA attracted more than 3,800 entries from 78 countries and territories, bringing together thousands of the world's leading businesses, organizations and brands.
Many unique cultural and sporting activities are held during the 10-day festival.
According to the Jury, the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival has demonstrated strategic vision and strong spreading effectiveness. "The festival stands out as a pioneering model, harmoniously combining heritage, tourism and economy. Its impressive scale, inspiring storytelling and diverse range of activities have turned the city's river identity into a leading cultural and commercial convergence point in the region."
This victory has affirmed the professional steps in developing new tourism products and at the same time contributed to raising the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a leading cultural and festival destination in Southeast Asia.
Launched in 2023, the River Festival was initiated by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism as a strategic milestone to honor cultural and historical values and build a brand of a river city rich in identity. The highlight of the festival is the opening musical The Legendary Train , recreating the journey from a small trading port to a modern metropolis, where the river always plays a central role in trade and culture.

During the 10 days, the festival also brings many unique sports and cultural activities: River Swimming Championship, Open SUP Tournament, flyboard performance, sailboat parade, Southern cultural and culinary space, waterway tourism stimulus program and activities linked with the provinces of the Mekong Delta and Southeast.
This international award marks an important step forward in the city’s integration journey on the world tourism map. From the cultural and historical flow, Ho Chi Minh City has created a festival with contemporary vitality, connecting the community and opening the door to international exchange.
The 3rd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival will return from November 29 to December 31, 2025 at many locations across the city, promising to bring a vibrant and vibrant festival picture with a series of rich cultural, artistic and sports activities.
