On September 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said it was investigating the case of dozens of residents at an apartment building in Long Binh ward who were hospitalized with symptoms of high fever, vomiting, and suspected food poisoning after eating bread purchased at a bakery in the area.
According to initial information, suspected poisoning cases are concentrated in people who ate bread on September 24.
Many patients, including children, were admitted to the hospital in serious condition with symptoms of persistent high fever, severe abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Some cases were diagnosed with severe intestinal infections and required treatment with high doses of medication.
Some parents said their children developed stomach aches after eating bread and sticky rice in the morning. By the afternoon, the condition had worsened and they had to be hospitalized for observation.
Initial estimates suggest that several dozen people have been affected to varying degrees. Many patients have been stabilized and discharged from hospital, but some cases are still being monitored and treated at medical facilities.
According to local residents, this bread brand has three locations in the area and all three locations have reported people experiencing health problems after eating.
A representative of the People's Committee of Long Binh Ward (Ho Chi Minh City) confirmed that they had received the information and were coordinating with the police and relevant units to verify and investigate the cause of the incident./.
