According to The Verge , Apple's announcement came after a Today show video of the issue went viral, with users complaining that their alarms weren't waking them up. Vergecast producer Liam James said he'd been having the same problem since last week, with an alarm he set "six or seven years ago" and hadn't touched since.
Alarm function not working is considered serious
It’s unclear how widespread this issue is, but if users are experiencing similar issues, they’re advised to check a few settings on their device. First, make sure the ringtone and alert volume slider in Settings > Sounds & Haptics is turned on. It’s easy to accidentally lower the alarm volume if you have “Change with Button” enabled under that button, so consider turning it off.
If that doesn’t work, one TikTok user said that turning off the “Attention Aware Features” option in Settings > Face ID & Passcode also helps. That can be an issue if you sleep with your phone facing you on a stand and your eyes open without fully waking up. However, the TikToker later said that the fix stopped working after she updated her phone, and Apple support suggested a fix with Sounds & Haptics.
In general, the problem of the alarm not making a sound is very annoying for many people because it will affect the plans they have scheduled, such as meeting time. It is also worth noting that the iPhone alarm problem is not new to iOS, as it was also recorded in 2015 on some devices, forcing Apple to release an update to fix the bug. Late last year, some users also complained about the iPhone alarm function not making a sound.
