In a report sent to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on August 20, the fundraising group for Ms. Harris announced that it had raised an additional $204 million in July. Meanwhile, the amount of money for Mr. Trump was $48 million, according to Axios news agency.
Including allied committees, Ms. Harris's campaign raised a total of $310 million last month, while Mr. Trump's campaign and allied committees raised $138 million.
According to Ms. Harris's aides, most of the money collected by the campaign group and related committees was concentrated in the last days of July, after President Joe Biden announced he was stopping his election campaign and supporting his vice president as the Democratic candidate on July 21.
The amount of money raised was more than 60 million USD in just the first 3 days after Ms. Harris joined the race for the White House.
FEC records show that Ms. Harris's campaign also spent more than Mr. Trump's in the past month — $81 million compared to $24 million.
On August 20, Ms. Harris appeared online at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), officially accepting the party's presidential nomination. She is scheduled to speak at the DNC on August 22 (US time) - the last day of the event.
Ms. Harris, 59 years old, is the first woman of color to be selected as a presidential candidate of a major party in the United States. If she wins the election taking place in November, Ms. Harris will be the first female President of the United States since the founding of the country.
Meanwhile, on August 21, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also officially accepted the Democratic Party's nomination to become the US Vice President candidate for the next term, running with Ms. Harris.
Speaking at the DNC in Chicago, Illinois (USA), Mr. Tim Walz called this "the honor of a lifetime".
In his 15-minute speech, he declared: “We are all here tonight for a simple and beautiful reason – we love this country.”
The 60-year-old politician made headlines across the country when Vice President Kamala Harris picked him as her running mate, a decision the Democrats hoped would bolster support among working-class white men - a key group that could help the party win battleground states like Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Observers say Mr. Tim Walz and Ms. Harris have created a clear contrast with their Republican rivals, presidential candidate Donald Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance.
Tim Walz, a former public school teacher, football coach and war veteran, has a demeanor that makes many Americans think of the portrait of "an ideal father, cheerful, approachable and very down-to-earth."
