Bac Ninh: Sectors and localities are ready to respond to heavy rains, risks of flash floods and landslides.

BAC NINH - In order to proactively deploy measures to respond to heavy rains, risks of floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides caused by storm No. 7, on September 9, functional forces of units and localities in the province organized inspections, reviews, and prepared permanent human resources along with equipment, materials, and means to respond to natural disasters.

According to forecasts, from September 9 to the night of September 10, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North (including Bac Ninh province), there is a possibility of widespread heavy rain with rainfall of 70-150mm, locally over 300mm. Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.

Implementing the official dispatch of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province on proactively deploying measures to respond to heavy rain, risk of flooding and landslides caused by storm No. 7, on the afternoon of September 9, at Xuan Cam commune, the leaders of the commune People's Committee coordinated with Dike Management Unit No. 9 to inspect sluice gates, drainage pumping stations, and vulnerable dike areas on the left dike route of Cau through the commune.

At the same time, the locality sent forces from the villages to collect duckweed, garbage and other obstacles on the canals and ditches of Ngo Xa and Ngo Khong villages.

Xuan Cam Commune and Dike Management Unit No. 9 directed the implementation of measures to clear the flow at drainage sluice gates.

In Xuan Cam commune, the leaders of the People's Committee coordinated with the Dike Management Unit No. 9 to inspect the sluice gates, drainage pumping stations, and vulnerable dike areas on the left dike of Cau. They sent forces to collect duckweed, garbage, and other obstacles on the canals and ditches of Ngo Xa and Ngo Khong villages in the commune.

In mountainous communes such as Tay Yen Tu, Tuan Dao, Yen Dinh, Son Dong, Dai Son - where flooding and landslides have occurred due to heavy rains recently, the work of checking, reviewing, and preparing response plans for natural disasters according to the 4 on-site motto has received special attention from local leaders.

According to comrade Hoang Van Quan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dai Son commune, in the flood at the end of August, the locality had 13 landslides, 27 overflows were flooded, 10 households had floodwaters infiltrate their houses, 2 households had rocks and soil on the hill slide up to the foot of their house walls, and dozens of hectares of fruit trees were flooded.

With the spirit of early initiative, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune regularly inform the weather situation to the villages and residential areas through the loudspeaker system so that people can grasp the information and prepare plans to evacuate people and property in dangerous areas to safe places when necessary. The main forces on duty to prevent and fight natural disasters, including members of the Civil Defense Command, police, military ... of the commune, deploy a plan to be on duty 24/24 hours.

On the same day, irrigation companies deployed forces to inspect machinery and equipment, ready to operate and regulate water when necessary. Proactively pumped and drained buffer water to prevent flooding in agricultural production, residential areas and industrial zones and clusters in communes and wards; deployed measures to ensure the safety of reservoirs.

Dredged garbage and mud accumulated in front of the sluice gates to ensure water flow during heavy rains.

To proactively respond to natural disasters, agencies, units, and People's Committees of communes and wards continue to closely monitor weather forecasts and provide timely, complete, and accurate information to people in villages, hamlets, residential groups, and businesses to proactively deploy appropriate response measures. Arrange forces, materials, and means ready to mobilize to participate in incident response (if any).

The Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board informs businesses to proactively ensure the safety of vehicles, machinery, and raw materials so as not to affect production and business activities, and to be ready to prepare prevention and response plans when heavy rain and flooding occur.
