A corner of a bean sprout factory was discovered soaked in chemicals in Dak Lak.

On December 28, Bach Hoa Xanh announced that it would refund or exchange other products for customers who provide invoices (paper or electronic) recording the purchase of Lam Dao bean sprouts. If the paper invoice is lost, customers can find the electronic invoice information saved in the history on the chain's shopping app.

Dak Lak police discovered more than 20 tons of bean sprouts contaminated with chemicals at 6 establishments in Buon Ma Thuot City. About 2,900 tons of bean sprouts contaminated with chemicals were consumed in 2024, of which about 350-400 kg were supplied to Bach Hoa Xanh every day.

The Bach Hoa Xanh chain said it had recalled all Lam Dao bean sprouts and stopped cooperating with the above supplier. The system also reviewed and tested all bean sprouts currently on sale at stores. Lam Dao products, according to the chain, account for 2% of their total bean sprout sales.

Bach Hoa Xanh affirms that all products imported into the system fully meet legal requirements. 6-Benzylaminopurine, Bach Hoa Xanh said, is an active ingredient that is not on the list of banned pesticides according to Circular 09 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development . This unit is also waiting for instructions from the competent authorities on how to handle the matter.

However, the Plant Protection Department said that 6-Benzylaminopurine is not on the banned list but is only allowed to be used on plants to kill harmful organisms. Misuse of food impregnation is against regulations and can be punished. The Department recommends that consumers should not use food containing this chemical.
