At Phu Lac fishing port, the delegation listened to the Fishing Port Management Board report on the port's operations. Since the beginning of the year, the port has had 4,200 fishing boats coming in and out with an output of about 5,100 tons.

In addition to ships within the province, Phu Lac fishing port attracts many ships from outside the province with large capacity, length over 30 m, steel-hulled ships, leading to overloading of the wharf and anchorage area of Phu Lac fishing port.

In addition, the waterways and waters are often silted, making it difficult for fishing boats to enter and exit the fishing port. To meet the requirements of the European Commission on combating IUU fishing as well as the needs of fishermen, the Phu Lac Fishing Port Management Board proposed the Provincial People's Committee to invest in upgrading and expanding the Phu Lac fishing port, combining it with a storm shelter anchorage area for fishing boats in Hoa Hiep Nam - Hoa Hiep Trung canal.

At the inspection session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van requested the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan commune to strengthen control and absolutely not allow new cages and rafts to appear in the Vung Ro Bay area. At the same time, he urged people to proactively dismantle cages and rafts, fulfill commitments to overlapping areas, not to change the current status, and not to build permanent structures.

Regarding fishing vessel activities at Phu Lac fishing port, comrade Nguyen Thien Van assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Phu Lac Fishing Port Management Board to continue reviewing and perfecting procedures, closely coordinating with relevant units to control fishing vessels entering and leaving the port; resolutely not allowing vessels that do not meet the conditions under IUU regulations to leave the port.

Regarding the proposal to expand fishing ports, the Department of Agriculture and Environment made a specific and comprehensive assessment, creating favorable conditions for fishermen during fishing. People's Committees of coastal localities closely coordinated in propaganda work, guiding fishermen to operate in accordance with regulations.
