Attending the handover conference were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
Pursuant to Decision No. 2110/QD-TTg dated September 22, 2025 of the Prime Minister appointing Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao to the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Decision No. 2089/QD-TTg dated September 18, 2025 of the Prime Minister appointing Major General Le Dinh Cuong to the position of Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard. At the conference, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao handed over the duties and responsibilities of Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard to Major General Le Dinh Cuong.

After listening to the report of the representative of the Vietnam Coast Guard, approving the handover minutes and listening to the discussion opinions, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense , General Nguyen Tan Cuong praised the results and achievements that the Vietnam Coast Guard has achieved in the past time. At the same time, he congratulated Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao and Major General Le Dinh Cuong on being entrusted with new tasks.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested that in the coming time, the Standing Committee, Party Committee, and Coast Guard Command continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the policies and directions of the Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on military and defense tasks. Proactively coordinate with forces to research, grasp the situation, promptly advise and propose the development of policies, laws, guidelines, and countermeasures to flexibly and effectively handle situations, and maintain the initiative.

Promote the core role in maintaining, enforcing the law and protecting security, order and safety at sea; strengthen patrols, control, and strictly maintain combat readiness. Coordinate with forces to fight and prevent crime; resolutely implement solutions to prevent and combat IUU. Proactively respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, search and rescue, and create a truly solid foundation to help fishermen feel secure going out to sea and sticking to the sea. Synchronously and effectively implement breakthroughs, improve the overall quality and combat strength of the entire force to meet the requirements of the new period.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong asked Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, in his new position, to quickly approach, proactively research, and continue to direct agencies and units throughout the army to successfully carry out military and defense tasks.
For Major General Le Dinh Cuong, continuing to inherit and promote the achievements of the Vietnam Coast Guard in the past time; promoting the sense of responsibility, continuing to take care of building solidarity and unity in the Party Committee Standing Committee and the Command; promptly proposing policies and measures to lead the common tasks of the entire force, especially in training, combat readiness, regularity, discipline training and firmly protecting sovereignty, maintaining political security, order and safety in the seas and islands of the Fatherland, contributing to building a truly lean, strong, modern Vietnam Coast Guard, ready to receive and complete well all assigned tasks, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and people.
