This is a ballet adapted from the work of German writer ETAHoffmann and composed by famous Russian composer PyotrIlyich Tchaikovsky. Especially the Nutcracker ballet version year 2025, called Dreamlands, was newly choreographed based on the fusion of Western and Eastern cultures, bringing surprise and excitement to audiences who love this art form.
The Nutcracker - Dreamlands is the cultural exchange between the West and East Asia
After nearly 5 months of rehearsal and staging, the ballet The Nutcracker - Dreamlands, directed and performed by general director, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Hong Quan, had an impressive debut with the public at the Hanoi Opera House.
Folk dances are included in the Nutcracker - Dreamland ballet
The play consists of 3 acts: Clara's house festival, The Nutcracker's fight with the mice and Victory festival. According to the production crew, the special features of the Dreamland version of The Nutcracker are spread throughout all 3 acts, but the climax is the end of the play. This can be considered a synthesis of many beautiful folk dances: the coconut shell dance of the Khmer people (Southwest), gong dance (Central Highlands), Sinh Tien stick dance (Northwest).... These dances not only reflect the uniqueness of traditional dance art but also contribute to promoting and preserving the values of traditional dance in artistic life.
Dances imbued with Vietnamese identity on the modern dance stage
Chief choreographer Vu Hong Quan said that he and his crew had overcome many challenges to bring Dreamlands to the stage of the Opera House, with the desire to promote this art form to the public and create a playground for young dancers who love the profession. "We will not stop here. The ballet will soon return in a new, more perfect and brilliant version next summer," director Vu Hong Quan shared.
