In the final match of the 2025 World Championship of Carom Billiards (World Championship) which ended in the early morning of October 19, Frederic Caudron had a spectacular comeback against his compatriot Eddy Merckx. The player nicknamed the genius was behind by more than 10 points after the first round, but played explosively in the second round to win 50-47 after 32 rounds, thereby convincingly winning the world championship. This is the 4th world championship title in Caudron's career.
Billiards genius Caudron ranked 9th
With the prestigious 2025 World Championship gold medal, Frederic Caudron has now entered the top 10 on the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB, the points-only version of the World Cup billiards and World Championship stages). Caudron has been on a meteoric rise in the world rankings for over a year. Previously, Frederic Caudron decided to leave the PBA and chose the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup (May) to "start over" at UMB. On the rankings when he returned to UMB in May 2024, Caudron was outside the top 3,000.
Meanwhile, Tran Quyet Chien dropped slightly in the rankings when he could not advance in two consecutive tournaments held in Antwerp - Belgium, World Billiards Antwerp 2025 (Round 16) and World Championship 2025 (Round 32). Specifically, before and after World Billiards Antwerp 2025, Quyet Chien was still ranked 3rd in the world. But after World Championship 2025, Vietnam's No. 1 player dropped to 5th place with 314 points.

Tran Thanh Luc also dropped in rank after 2 tournaments in Belgium, from 6th to 11th (currently has 233 points). Being in the top 14 on the rankings helps Thanh Luc and Phuong Vinh get a special ticket to appear in the main round (32 players) in the upcoming World Cup billiards tournaments.
Chiem Hong Thai was deducted a few points, but still maintained his 19th place in the world rankings. Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu's ranking increased slightly, from 31st to 29th.
