Arrested 02 trawlers fishing on the wrong route in the waters of Lam Dong province

Implementing the peak of the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, on the evening of October 7, during a patrol at sea, the patrol team of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station and Squadron 2, Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command discovered and arrested an illegally operating trawler.

On the evening of October 7, while on a patrol and control trip at Phan Thiet sea, the patrol team of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station and Squadron 2 discovered and caught red-handed the fishing boat BTh 99588 TS captained by Mr. Pham Ba Hien and the fishing boat BTh 99248 TS captained by Mr. Huynh Van Tuan Em, both residing in Phu Thuy Ward, Lam Dong province, exploiting seafood using a double trawl net (flying rake) in the wrong direction.

The patrol team quickly approached the vessel and asked the two fishing boats to stop the violation and made a record. At the same time, they organized to bring the violators and vessels to Phu Hai port (Phu Thuy ward, Lam Dong province) for handling according to the law.

Over the past time, the Provincial Border Guard has deployed synchronous measures to effectively combat IUU fishing in the province. Along with strengthening the dissemination of legal regulations to fishermen and fishing boat owners; closely managing and monitoring fishing boats when leaving and entering ports and strictly handling violations.

Patrolling, detecting and strictly handling fishing vessels operating with double trawls (flying trawls) in the wrong sea areas demonstrates the determination of the Provincial Border Guard force in the activities of exploiting and destroying near-shore marine resources, seriously affecting aquatic resources in the province in particular and the whole country in general. Contributing to the whole country to remove the EC yellow card and build a sustainable fishing industry.
