Emergency arrest of knife-wielding robber at convenience store in Ho Chi Minh City

On August 20, the Investigation Police Agency of District 12 urgently arrested Tran Quang Vinh (24 years old, residing locally) to handle the act of "Robbery".

Previously, on the morning of August 18, Mr. NHH (22 years old), an employee of the Family Mart convenience store (on Truong Chinh Street, Tan Thoi Nhat Ward, District 12) went to the local police to report being robbed.

Specifically, at 3:40 a.m., Mr. H. was watching the store when a young man came in to buy something, but later revealed himself to be a robber. This subject pulled out a knife to threaten, forced Mr. H. to open the safe, robbed 10 million VND and then escaped.

According to the victim's statement and security camera footage in the store, the robber was tall, wearing a blue jacket, red shorts, a gray helmet, and a mask covering his face.

Receiving the report, District 12 Police began investigating and searching. Police determined that after committing the crime, the robber ran to a nearby alley to change his identity by taking off his outer clothes, throwing away the knife and taking a motorbike taxi to Ba Diem commune, Hoc Mon district.

Following the trail and using professional measures, criminal investigators have narrowed down the suspect to Tran Quang Vinh.

The secret investigation team approached a boarding house in Tan Hung Thuan ward, district 12 and suddenly raided and arrested the subject while he was gathering with friends to use drugs.

Vinh admitted to committing the above robbery to earn money to pay off personal debts and buy drugs.

Vinh confessed that he had robbed 6.5 million VND. After that, Vinh used 2 million VND to redeem a motorbike that was pawned at a store in Hoc Mon district and the remaining amount was used up.
