Sources said that on the evening of September 30, the health condition of musician and People's Artist The Hien suddenly worsened. His family took him to Military Hospital 175 (Hanh Thong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

"He is currently in a coma, his health is very weak, he needs oxygen to stay alive. The doctor's prognosis is bad, his family is also mentally prepared," this person told VietNamNet.

After suffering a stroke in September 2024, Thế Hiển's health rapidly declined. In addition to the stroke, he was also diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer with brain metastases.

For a year now, the veteran musician has been unable to walk, his voice is hoarse, and he has difficulty speaking. He has to rely on his relatives for all his daily activities.

Recently, many artists such as singer Ngoc Son, artists Phuong Dung, Phi Phung, musician Nguyen Van Chung... came to visit and were heartbroken to see The Hien "extremely skinny, his body just skin and bones".

Musician, People's Artist The Hien's full name is Lai The Hien, born in 1955 in Saigon, originally from Nam Dinh .

In 1977, he attended an intermediate vocal music program, then worked as a singer at the Lotus Song and Dance Troupe.

In 1982, he began his composing career, his first work, When the Balloons Fly, was well received by the audience.

Since then, The Hien's name has been associated with dozens of hits of many genres such as: "Nhanh lan rung", "Sing about you", "Toc em tui ga", "Cho du co di noi dau", "Doi cho trong con mua", "Dau cau hoi", "Nhong nhong nhong", "Hoang hon mau tim", "Vau than chuyen minh" ...

Throughout his career, he wrote about 250 articles, published about 150 of them and has no intention of stopping. The royalties help him live well, without bothering his children and grandchildren.

Thế Hiển was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist for his role as a singer in 2012. Last March, he was awarded the title of People's Artist.
