Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital celebrates its 50th anniversary

On the afternoon of October 11, in Tuy Hoa ward, Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital held a ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary of establishment and development (October 15, 1975 - October 15, 2025).

On October 15, 1975, Phu Yen Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital was established under Decision No. 366/QD-UB of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee. From November 1975 to March 1989, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces merged into Phu Khanh province, the hospital was renamed Phu Khanh Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital. In 1989, Phu Yen province was re-established, the hospital returned to the name Phu Yen Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital.

On May 15, 1999, the hospital officially changed its name to Phu Yen Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital according to Decision No. 937/1999/QD-UB of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee. From July 2025, the hospital will be called Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital according to Decision No. 0132/QD-UBND of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.

Over the past 50 years, from a modest-sized medical facility with only 30 inpatient beds and less than 20 staff, Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital now has more than 200 beds and 140 staff, including many highly qualified experts and doctors.

The hospital has promoted the application of information technology in management and electronic medical records; the effectiveness of medical examination and treatment has been significantly improved with the rate of successful treatment and patient satisfaction always reaching a high level. Scientific research work has also received attention with many valuable research topics and technical innovation initiatives for practical application.

The hospital is currently striving to become a Traditional Medicine General Hospital with 300 inpatient beds by 2030, fully meeting the health care needs of the people in the new situation.

In recognition of the efforts of the hospital's medical staff, over the past 50 years, the hospital has been awarded the Third Class Labor Medal (1981, 2007), Second Class Labor Medal (2014) by the State; the Ministry of Health has awarded the emulation flag and the certificate of "Comprehensive Excellent Hospital" for many consecutive years, along with many certificates of merit, certificates of merit, and emulation flags from the Provincial People's Committee, Department of Health, etc.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nay Phi La, Director of the Department of Health, acknowledged and praised the achievements of Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital over the past 50 years. In the coming time, the Director of the Department of Health requested the hospital to continue to promote its tradition, constantly improve professional quality, combine medical ethics with medical skills, combine scientific research with treatment practices; strengthen training and develop high-quality human resources; promote the application of digital transformation towards a modern traditional medicine general hospital model...

The Department of Health will always accompany, support, and create favorable conditions for Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital to develop strongly, worthy of being the leading flag of the traditional medicine sector in the region.
