Contract terminated, contractor requests to continue construction of Gia Dinh People's Hospital's inpatient area

The contractor consortium affirmed that it still has enough capacity and committed to completing the inpatient treatment area of ​​Gia Dinh People's Hospital and putting it into use on April 30, 2026.

On October 7, Tuoi Tre Online reported that after Gia Dinh People's Hospital announced the termination of the contractor contract for the hospital's inpatient block, the joint venture of Thanh Do Construction Group Joint Stock Company and TPS Thanh Phong Joint Stock Company responded in writing. Accordingly, the contractor joint venture committed to organizing the construction and speeding up the progress at the project.

Reporting further on the results of the construction of the hospital's inpatient treatment area, the consortium said that it had paid subcontractors and workers more than 15.8 billion VND/50 billion VND (according to the counterpart capital plan the contractor arranged for the project upon handover).

By injecting cash into the project, mobilizing human resources and subcontractors to continue the project over the past time and accepting the investor to control the counterpart capital flow, the contractor consortium affirms its sincerity and desire to continue fulfilling its responsibilities to the project, to the investor and other parties.

According to the plan, the contractor consortium confirmed that the project will be put into use on April 30, 2026.

"With this plan, we hope that the departments, branches, investors, and project management board will allow us to continue construction for contract 1703 and contract 2809 because this is the best and most effective option for the project to be put into use as soon as possible (April 2026) for the hospital to serve the people soon," the document stated.

The document also stated that if the project does not comply with the attached schedule by October 30, 2025, the consortium agrees to immediately unconditionally terminate the contract with the investor.

Tuoi Tre Online 's source said that on the morning of October 7, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health held a direct meeting at Gia Dinh People's Hospital to resolve difficulties and problems in the inpatient treatment area project and related to the contractor's commitment.

Continuously late for appointments, the hospital has to "borrow" treatment facilities for patients.

The project to build a new building to replace the inpatient area of ​​Gia Dinh People's Hospital was started on March 17, 2020, with a scale of two 15-storey buildings from the Ho Chi Minh City budget, the career development fund and loans with a total investment of more than 600 billion VND.

The project is managed by Thanh Do Construction Group Joint Stock Company as the contractor and this is one of the projects that has been repeatedly "named" for being behind schedule.

According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health on the progress of public investment projects of the city's health sector through the stages, and recommendations to remove many current projects that are still stuck and facing difficulties.

Including the project to build an inpatient treatment block at Gia Dinh People's Hospital (HCMC) due to slow construction progress and financial difficulties of the contractor.

Specifically, in August 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction issued an official dispatch requesting Gia Dinh People's Hospital to coordinate with project management consultants, supervision consultants, design consultants, and construction contractors to quickly complete the work to terminate the contract with the construction contractor.

On September 12, Gia Dinh People's Hospital announced the termination of the contract with Thanh Do Construction Group Joint Stock Company for the construction, supply and installation package: clean air system, FM200 automatic fire extinguishing system, solar hot water system in the construction project, replacing the hospital's inpatient treatment block.

In early 2024, Gia Dinh People's Hospital had to break down the wall to "borrow" part of the Oncology Hospital's first facility (old Binh Thanh district, where a high-tech early disease screening and diagnosis center is being built) to treat inpatients.
