Dong Nai will reach 10 doctors per 10,000 people by the end of 2025

(DN) - Dong Nai Department of Health has set a target of achieving 10 doctors/10,000 people and 30.5 hospital beds/10,000 people by the end of 2025. This information is mentioned in the Report on the assessment of the socio-economic situation for the 5 years 2021-2025; goals, tasks, and main solutions for the 2025-2030 term of the health sector of Dong Nai province.

Currently, the health sector has 9.8 doctors per 10,000 people with more than 15,000 medical staff working at public and non-public medical facilities; 100% of health stations have doctors working. In the period of 2021-2022, Dong Nai province (old) has 20 doctors receiving one-time attraction policies, 97 doctors receiving housing rental support and 50 female doctors receiving support; in 2022, 904 doctors received financial support and continued training support for 5 resident doctors. As for the old Binh Phuoc province, from 2020 to mid-2024, it sent 21 doctors to train as level II specialists, 111 doctors to train as level I specialists, and 20 medical staff to study to become doctors; 36 doctors have also been attracted to work thanks to timely financial support policies.

To meet the people's need for medical examination and treatment, the medical staff continues to be trained, fostered and assigned according to capacity and expertise, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and the capacity of grassroots medical services.

Accordingly, the Department of Health has promoted cooperation with medical units in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces in the Southeast region to receive professional support, training and technology transfer. At the same time, it has coordinated with universities, especially Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, to implement postgraduate training courses and professional development for medical staff, especially at the grassroots level.

Health units are also flexible in assigning and rotating human resources in two directions between the district and commune levels, to ensure work efficiency and improve professional capacity. This activity has brought many practical effects, helping to improve professional quality for the health sector.

Dong Nai currently has 8 central, ministerial and sector hospitals; 3 provincial general hospitals, 3 regional general hospitals, 5 specialized hospitals, 6 provincial specialized centers, 22 regional medical centers and 95 commune and ward health stations.

In addition to the public system, the non-public health network in the province has also developed strongly with 12 private general and specialized hospitals, 111 private general clinics, more than 2,000 specialized clinics and over 4,000 pharmacies, drug stores and health service facilities, most of which are concentrated in urban areas. The units operate stably, relatively fully meeting the health care needs of people in the province.
