This is the third consecutive season held in Vietnam, following the resounding success of the previous two years and continuing to affirm Vietnam's position on the international billiards map.
With a total prize value of up to 200,000 USD, Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2025 is considered one of the biggest tournaments in the World Nineball Tour system. Among 256 players from 40 countries, there are 128 players in the world's top group, notably Johann Chua (reigning champion), Carlo Biado (world champion), Fedor Gorst, Jayson Shaw, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and many other stars.
Notably, Vietnam has 68 players participating, of which 40 have qualified. Leading the group is Duong Quoc Hoang, the biggest hope of Vietnamese billiards. He shared: “Returning to the Hanoi Open is always a special feeling. This is not just a tournament, but a place where the dream of world-class billiards is nurtured right in my homeland.”

Besides Quoc Hoang, players Nguyen Anh Tuan, Dang Thanh Kien, Bui Truong An, Luong Duc Thien... are also expected to create surprises in front of the cheers of the home audience. The presence of nearly 70 Vietnamese representatives at the tournament is proof of the clear progress of billiards in our country in both level and movement.
Not only is it a prestigious playground, the Hanoi Open Pool Championship also carries a deep humanitarian meaning. In the launching ceremony to support people affected by storms and floods, initiated by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , the tournament's Organizing Committee allocated 100 million VND from ticket sales to participate in the charity program.
Ms. Tran Thuy Chi, General Director of Vietcontent Company - the co-organizer, shared: “Hanoi Open is not only an international sports tournament but also a place to spread the spirit of sharing in the community. We hope that sports will become a bridge of positive energy and human spirit.”

Matchroom Multi Sport representative Emily Frazer expressed her excitement at the event returning for its third year: “The Hanoi Open has a special place in my heart. The Vietnamese audience is passionate, the players always put on great performances. The coordination of the Organizing Committee in Vietnam makes this one of the most anticipated events on the World Nineball Tour system.”
Along with the main tournament, the Hanoi Junior Open - a playground for 64 young players under 17 years old, will also take place, with a total prize of 10,000 USD. This is an opportunity for young talents to compete internationally and gain experience before stepping onto the big stage.
Ms. Emily commented: “The Junior Tournament is a launching pad for young talents like Albert James Manas. From here, many Southeast Asian players will have the opportunity to go professional and pursue their passion.”
After two successful seasons, the Hanoi Open Pool Championship has created a historic turning point for Vietnamese billiards. From a grassroots activity, this sport is gradually becoming professionalized, attracting a large number of fans. The international news site Kozoom once commented: "The Hanoi Open Pool Championship is a revolution for Vietnamese pool."
The tournament not only brings a high-class experience to the audience but also contributes to changing the social perspective on billiards, from a recreational hobby to a highly professional intellectual sport. The success of the tournament also opens up opportunities for cooperation, promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world.

According to statistics, media content about the Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2024 has reached more than 3 billion global views. The final match between Ko Pin Yi and Johann Chua attracted up to 140 thousand live views, affirming the strong appeal of billiards in Vietnam.
