Responding to Tuoi Tre Online about the fact that the e-commerce platform Temu has temporarily suspended operations with Vietnamese platforms in Vietnam, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the company has submitted an application to register for e-commerce activities and is in the process of reviewing.
Temu has added the profile for the second time
Specifically, after working with this agency, Elementary Innovation Pte. Ltd - owner of the Temu e-commerce platform - submitted an application for registration to provide e-commerce services through the e-commerce management portal (online.gov.vn). Based on that, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy reviewed and requested Temu to supplement the application. To date, Temu has submitted a second amended and supplemented application and the competent authority is still in the process of reviewing the application content according to the provisions of Decree No. 52, amending and supplementing Decree No. 85 on e-commerce. Therefore, during the time of completing the application, Temu has implemented a number of requests of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade. Specifically, this company must temporarily stop providing e-commerce services in Vietnam, including not using Vietnamese language when providing services on the website Temu.com and the Temu mobile application. Previously, according to Tuoi Tre Online 's reflection, the Temu platform is temporarily stopping operations in the Vietnamese market. On the application installed on the phone and the website, instead of leaving Vietnamese as before, Vietnamese customers now only have three options: English, Chinese and French. "Temu is working with the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to register to provide e-commerce services in Vietnam," the platform announced when customers visited the website to view products.
Require Temu to warn consumers that the floor is not licensed
Meanwhile, it is noted that up to now, many buyers on the Temu platform have paid online before ordering goods since the beginning of November, but have not yet received the goods. According to information from the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, this agency has requested Temu to warn consumers that it is in the process of registering to provide e-commerce services with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This warning is to let consumers know that this is a website and application that has not been licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and that they need to be careful when making transactions. At the same time, Temu must also remove promotional programs that do not comply with the legal regulations on trade promotion according to Vietnamese law. All products and goods with promotions of over 50% are removed according to the provisions of Decree No. 81 of the Government detailing the Law on Commerce on trade promotion activities and other relevant laws. At the same time, the company must abandon programs and models that call for users to participate in business to receive various bonuses and commissions in the Vietnamese market. However, the issue of protecting consumer rights has not been mentioned to support cases that have purchased Temu products, transferred money but have not received the goods.
