Provincial Border Guard: Maintain security and safety in maritime border areas

Implementing the Resolution of the 13th Provincial Border Guard Party Congress, term 2020-2025, in the past half of the term, the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee and Command actively coordinated with local authorities to effectively carry out tasks to build and consolidate the province's maritime border area (KVBGB) to increasingly develop economically and be strong in national defense and security (QPAN).

Colonel Le Anh Son, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, said: The border area of the province includes 15 communes, wards and towns in 4 districts and cities; the population is 52,882 households/205,207 people. In the province, there are 4 fishing ports (My Tan, Ninh Chu, Dong Hai, Ca Na) and Ca Na general seaport; there are 2,275 fishing boats with a length of 6 m or more. The Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command seriously implement the resolutions, directives, orders and plans of the Party Committee, the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee on the tasks of national defense and security, border guards in managing and protecting border security and sovereignty. In addition, coordinate with forces and localities to grasp the situation on land and at sea; fight and prevent illegal activities in the border area.

From 2021 to now, the province's maritime sovereignty situation has been basically stable, no cases of foreign ships violating the province's maritime sovereignty have been detected. The provincial Border Guard has closely coordinated with joint forces to monitor the journey and direction of movement of suspicious ships and groups of coast guard and foreign ships passing through the province's waters, readying forces and means to handle situations when ordered, firmly protecting the province's maritime sovereignty; closely coordinating with branches and local authorities to propagate and mobilize fishermen to commit to strictly comply with regulations on preventing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and sustainable fisheries development policies. Organized 3,572 patrols in the area/19,842 officers and soldiers participated; organized 42 ship trips/396 officers and soldiers to participate in patrolling and controlling to protect the province's maritime sovereignty, preventing and combating IUU. Discovered and collected more than 19,000 packs of foreign brand cigarettes drifting ashore in Thuan Nam and Ninh Hai districts; handled 394 cases/401 subjects; arrested and prosecuted 5 criminal cases/6 subjects... Coordinated to handle and resolve well 48 cases related to illegal storage of explosives; collisions; drowning; rescue; anti-IUU...

At the same time, the Border Guard units have proactively participated in building and consolidating the grassroots political system; implementing well the motto "3 sticking, 3 together" with the people in the BĐBGB area. The unit leaders actively and proactively participated in building and consolidating the grassroots political system, developing the local socio-economy, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas associated with consolidating the National Defense and Security, building the people's hearts, creating social consensus among the people in the BĐBGB area, contributing to the successful implementation of the resolutions and conclusions of the Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on socio-economic development in the BĐBGB area. To take care of the material and spiritual life of the people in the BĐBGB area, based on the practical situation at the grassroots level, the Provincial Border Guard has deployed many movements, programs and models to help people develop socio-economy and reduce poverty sustainably and effectively. For example, the models: Helping children go to school; Adopted children of the border guard station, in the 3 years 2021-2023, sponsored 68 students, 2 adopted children of the border guard station, 20 children under the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" with a support level of 500,000 VND/person/month with a total amount of more than 1 billion VND; or during the COVID-19 outbreak, the unit mobilized benefactors inside and outside the province to support necessities for localities in the province and Ho Chi Minh City worth nearly 1.8 billion VND; deployed the program "Border loudspeaker" broadcast 122 hours of mobile loudspeakers, contributing to improving the effectiveness of propaganda on epidemic prevention and control; strictly controlled people and vehicles to prevent infiltration and spread from the sea into the province... The movements were highly appreciated by local Party committees, authorities and people, contributing to strengthening the military-civilian relationship.

Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the Party Committee, the Provincial Border Guard Command and its subordinate Party Committees as well as officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard units will continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoints and guidelines on protecting the Fatherland in the new situation; proactively and coordinately grasp the situation early and from afar, especially at sea, promptly advise the Party Committee, the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee on the management and protection of territorial sovereignty and maritime border security, effectively handle situations, and avoid being passive or surprised. Promote the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire people to build a solid people's border defense; combine economic, cultural and social development with strengthening national defense and security in the BĐBG area; Building a unit that is strong in politics, ideology, organization, ethics and staff, meeting the requirements of the task, contributing to firmly protecting the sea and island borders of the Fatherland, focusing on the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee, Session XI, on the Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, Resolution of the 8th Central Committee, Session XII, on the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045...
