The Ministry of Health recommends not using 'Hai Be Appetite Syrup'

The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) recommends that people should not use the health protection food "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" because the authorities have determined it to be fake.

The agency made the above recommendation on the evening of June 17, in the context of Ninh Binh Provincial Police prosecuting and detaining Tran Dai Phuc, Director of Hai Be Company Limited, and Le Van Hai (a capital contributor of the company) for the crime of Trading in counterfeit food products, according to Article 193 of the Penal Code.

"People should not use Hai Be Delicious Syrup health food while authorities are verifying the incident," said a representative of the Food Safety Department.

Authorities allege that over the past two years, the Tiktok account "Gia Dinh Hai Sen" of Hai and Phuc has frequently posted videos selling many products such as cosmetics and functional foods, most of which is a health food called "Hai Be Delicious Syrup". Users later gave many negative feedbacks, so this channel "came into the sights" of the investigation agency.

Searching the headquarters of Hai Be Company Limited in Van Phu commune, Nho Quan district, police seized hundreds of packages of cosmetics and functional foods without invoices or documents proving their origin.

Assessing the quality index of "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" printed on the packaging, the police determined that the ingredients of vitamin A, calcium, and vitamin C (the main substances that create the product's effects) only reached less than 70% of the declared amount. According to current regulations, this food is determined to be counterfeit.

Police said that from 2024 to now, through social media channels Tiktok shop, Facebook, Shopee "Gia Dinh Hai Sen", "Hai Sen"... Hai Be Company has sold more than 800,000 products to the market. "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" alone has sold more than 100,000 boxes.

Hai Be Syrup in 2024 has been granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration and a Certificate of Advertising Content Confirmation by the Food Safety Department.

Recently, the authorities have continuously discovered cases of manufacturing and trading fake medicines, fake milk and fake health food on a large scale, operating for a long time, causing public outrage. Typically, the Ministry of Public Security has dismantled a production and consumption network of 573 brands of fake powdered milk for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies, pregnant women, with a revenue of nearly 500 billion VND. Authorities recently discovered that two nutritional supplements for infants, Baby Shark and Medi Kid Calcium K2, produced by Herbitech Technology Company, were also counterfeit.
