Ca Mau determined to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025

Ca Mau province is urgently and resolutely directing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province by 2025.


On December 6, according to information from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Chairman of the People's Committee of this province has just issued an official dispatch requesting the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and provincial departments, branches, sectors, mass organizations, and People's Committees of districts and cities of Ca Mau to speed up the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.

According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the care and solution of housing for the people has always been of concern to the Party and the State and is identified as a key task of social security and sustainable poverty reduction. However, up to now, in the province, there are still 4,400 households facing housing difficulties.

Of which, 3,463 new houses and 937 houses (including those with revolutionary contributions, martyrs' relatives; poor households, near-poor households; households under the national target program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority areas in the province) need support to improve housing safety.

At the same time, it helps people stabilize their lives soon, feel secure in their work and production, develop the economy step by step to escape poverty, contribute to the goal of poverty reduction and ensure social security.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to preside over and coordinate with relevant units and localities to specifically review the subjects (people with meritorious services to the revolution, relatives of martyrs; poor households, near-poor households; households under the national target program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority areas in the province) who are supported with current housing, have or do not have, or do not have but have built their own hygienic toilet system or hygienic toilets supported by other programs.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested the People's Committees of districts and cities of Ca Mau to thoroughly grasp the motto "The Party leads, the State manages, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations support, the People are the masters"; to have high determination, great efforts, drastic actions, focus on key points, complete each task, clearly assign people, tasks, time, responsibilities, and results.

According to the plan, Ca Mau province expects to complete the target ahead of schedule, aiming to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province by 2025.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs monitors, urges and directs agencies and units under its management to implement the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, ensuring the correct targets, standards and norms, no duplication between programs and other support activities from the State budget, compliance with procedures in accordance with legal regulations, and no loss, waste or negativity.

According to data on the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, Ca Mau province built 3,463 new houses and repaired 937 houses. For households with meritorious services to the revolution, 578 new houses were built and 579 houses were repaired.

Poor households built 1,206 new houses and repaired 116 houses. Near-poor households built 1,324 new houses and repaired 242 houses. Households under the national target program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority areas in the province had 355 houses.

The support rate for new construction is 60 million VND/house, repair is 30 million VND/house. Total capital for implementation is 235.89 billion VND.
