In the highlands and border areas of Quang Ngai province, many female cadres have been and are the ones who "spread the fire" and become the "support" for the Xo Dang, Gie Trieng, Ba Na, Gia Rai... people to overcome difficult days and build new lands.
Outstanding female cadres
After the merger, Quang Ngai province has 96 communes, wards and special zones, with a population of more than 2.1 million people, of which the proportion of women accounts for about 50%. From the reality of training, fostering and practicing, many female cadres have affirmed their capacity and responsibility, and have been trusted by the Party Committee to take on the task of leading the Party Committee and the government.
Taking on the task at Ngok Bay commune, 240km from the center of Quang Ngai province, where there are more than 5,400 households, 54% of whom are Ba Na ethnic people, comrade Tran Thi Phong Lan, Secretary of the commune Party Committee, and local cadres focused on shaping a new direction. With the viewpoint of linking responsibilities and efforts to mobilize people to live on the land of the village, comrade Lan found ways to help women participate in the mushroom spawn and medicinal mushroom production chain of the Biology Organic Cooperative. Cooperating and supporting loans from national target programs, the cooperative's scale has increasingly expanded through the companionship and determination of key cadres of the commune.

Comrade Phong Lan shared: After the survey, we selected effective economic factors and models to guide the villagers and women to work together. In particular, I cherished the organic mushroom model associated with experiential tourism , with the participation of people in the production and consumption chain of the cooperative, developing the economy, improving life and making it more stable.
Building a locality in a new space and context is full of difficulties, but with will, enthusiasm and dedication, many female secretaries and chairmen of communes have contributed to changing the new land. In the first days of taking over the new commune, comrade Y Sam, female Party Secretary of Sa Thay commune, and her colleagues focused on completing unfinished work and quickly carrying out new tasks.

With 20% of the population being Gia Rai ethnic people, in the new term, the Party Committee of Sa Thay commune determined to make a breakthrough in digital transformation; applying science and technology to labor and production to improve productivity and quality of agricultural products. After reviewing the current situation, the commune leaders and experts proposed solutions to support people in expanding the scale of garden and forest economy.
During the past term, the commune has renovated more than 228 hectares of mixed gardens, not leaving any land to waste. Mixed gardens have been converted to grow valuable industrial crops such as rubber and coffee; low-efficiency mango and longan gardens will be calculated and the commune will encourage people to grow high-value crops such as durian and pepper.
Motivating women in the highlands
Over the past years, Quang Ngai has implemented many policies to build and create a source of young cadres, female cadres and cadres from ethnic minorities. Thereby, helping localities to be proactive in cadre resources, increasing the proportion of female cadres in the structure of leadership and management teams at all levels.
After the administrative reorganization, Quang Ngai province arranged more than 190 leaders of Party committees and authorities in 96 communes and wards. Of these, 27 are female leaders of Party committees and authorities at the grassroots level. Particularly in the 40 communes and wards in the mountainous and border areas in the west of the province, there are 14 female leaders.
With thorough training and development, and extensive work experience, female cadres in the mountainous and border areas of Quang Ngai province have promoted administrative reform, implemented diverse livelihood models, supported women in economic management and increased income.
For remote areas, the role of female leadership plays an important role in promoting gender equality and building national unity. Arranging leaders at the grassroots level in accordance with new conditions and requirements, experienced female cadres will receive and implement policies and tasks faster, and at the same time, together with grassroots cadres, contribute to building and developing the homeland in the process of innovation.
