On the morning of October 11, a series of international scientific conferences, aviation science forums and 2023 aviation exhibitions hosted by the Vietnam Aviation Academy opened in Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference gathered experts, scientists and many businesses in the aviation sector from many countries. Notably, scientists introduced, shared and discussed technical technology solutions applied in the aviation sector. At the same time, experts also forecasted the global market, trends and upcoming challenges in this field.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Hoai An, Chairman of the Council of the Vietnam Aviation Academy, shared: "The demand for aviation human resources is very large." Associate Professor Hoai An said that currently, the Vietnamese civil aviation industry has about 44,000 employees, divided into three main areas: transport exploitation, port exploitation and flight operations. This number is forecast to reach more than 58,000 people by 2025, of which the administrative sector will increase by 2-3%/year, the aviation business sector will increase by 4-5%/year, and the aviation and other non-aviation service businesses will increase by 4-5%/year.

In response to that need, Associate Professor Hoai An said that the academy is also expanding its training scale. Currently, the academy is training 2 graduate majors, 11 university majors, and 4 college majors. The number of annual enrollments is gradually increasing from 2,500 (2022-2023 school year) to 3,500 (2025-2026 school year). Thus, from the 2025 school year, the academy will annually train and provide the aviation industry with 3,000-4,000 workers with college to post-graduate qualifications. In addition, every year, the academy also trains and provides thousands of intermediate and elementary level aviation staff in aviation security and air traffic management.

Staff and lecturers of Vietnam Aviation Academy participated in the aviation exhibition on the morning of October 11.

Representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also recognized education as one of the most influential means for sustainable development. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) supports sustainable development goals through its Next Generation Aviation Professionals program. The program aims to ensure that there are enough competent and qualified aviation professionals to maintain, operate and manage the international air transport system in the future.

"With the aim of providing career development opportunities for women working in the aviation industry, ICAO creates conditions for women to take on professional tasks at this organization," added a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
