After the merger (Can Tho City, Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces), Can Tho City opens up a new development space as the economic, financial, commercial, service, logistics, science - technology and medical center of the Mekong Delta region.
The newly established Bac Ninh province was established on the basis of merging the two provinces of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, belonging to the key economic region of the North and the Red River Delta. The conference of the Industry and Trade sector of Can Tho City and Bac Ninh Province was attended by leaders of the Industry and Trade sector and nearly 30 enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments, distributors, etc. of the two localities. This shows the great interest and need for connection between the units. At the conference, in addition to exchanging experiences in state management in the field of industry and trade, representatives of enterprises and cooperatives introduced production, distribution and consumption activities of goods. Delegates spent a lot of time discussing opportunities, advantages, potential for market development and typical products; directions for trade cooperation, connecting supply and demand between the two localities in the coming time.
Within the framework of the conference, there was also an exhibition and introduction of typical and unique products, OCOP products of enterprises and cooperatives of the two localities; connecting the consumption of these products to OCOP business points of Can Tho and Bac Ninh. Participating in the connection activities on the Can Tho side were enterprises that are production and trading units with pharmaceutical products, rice, fish of all kinds and processed fish products, and distribution enterprises.
Ms. Huynh Thi Kieu Tien, Director of Quang Dang Private Production and Trade Enterprise, said: The enterprise has a store selling local specialties and OCOP products of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. After 8 years of operation, in parallel with promoting and trading specialties of the Mekong Delta, the enterprise aims to cooperate with units to order the production of their own products and the purple brown rice milk product using ST25 rice is the first product developed according to this orientation. In addition, the enterprise will expand the display points of specialty products of regions across the country. Hopefully, through this connection conference, enterprises between Can Tho and Bac Ninh will have more opportunities to exchange, promote and trade each other's local specialties.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province, said: In recent times, the locality has implemented many trade promotion activities with many localities across the country to create conditions for businesses to exchange and introduce products. The delegation's working trip to the southern provinces and cities is for the professional and technical departments of the two departments to study and exchange experiences in state management in the field of industry and trade as well as to find ways to connect trade; especially for local specialties and OCOP products of the province in Can Tho city as well as the southern provinces. It is expected that businesses and cooperatives of both sides will seek suppliers and distributors of qualified products from these connecting events.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, Director of Chu Nam The Noodle Production and Consumption Cooperative, Acting Chairman of Luc Ngan Chu Noodle Production and Consumption Association (managing 28 Chu noodle production cooperatives), said: "Chu noodles are a long-standing traditional product of the locality; a strong brand of the province, creating a national position and being honored as a 4-star OCOP product, increasingly known at home and abroad. To improve productivity and quality, cooperatives invest in modern technology in production. In 2024, the Association's output will reach about 17,000 tons. We wish to introduce and consume Chu noodles in the Can Tho market; especially hope to connect with rice suppliers (the main ingredient for noodle production).
Providing more information at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Nam shared: “Cooperatives are “hungry” for input. That is, they are in dire need of rice to produce Chu noodles. Meanwhile, Can Tho is known for its great potential in agricultural production, especially rice production. The cooperation is carried out in the following way: we will order units in Can Tho to grow the required rice (suitable for noodle production); Can Tho can support in promoting Chu noodles so that consumers in the South will increasingly know and choose to use them.”
Mr. Ha Vu Son, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, said: "Through the meeting between the two localities, we not only exchanged experiences in managing the industry and trade sector but also supported and promoted connections for businesses on both sides to expand their markets for consuming each other's goods. Typical products, OCOP products, especially the strong products of Can Tho and the Mekong Delta such as agricultural and aquatic products and rice will expand their markets not only in Bac Ninh but also spread to the northern provinces and cities. The Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City has also prepared locations to introduce products to businesses and cooperatives of Bac Ninh province who want to cooperate and trade goods in Can Tho. In particular, the Cantho ECO Resort tourist area is a typical business cooperation location; along with a number of locations specializing in trading OCOP products, typical products with convenient locations in the city center".
At the conference, memorandums of understanding on cooperation were signed by businesses of the two localities. Accordingly, cooperation in purchasing and supplying products of businesses and cooperatives of the two localities... creates a premise for the two localities to further strengthen trade cooperation in the future. Thereby, effectively implementing activities to connect the consumption of products of the two localities, towards connecting the consumption of products of the Mekong Delta and the Red River Delta.
