On the morning of September 15, the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) said that in recent days, taking advantage of the online community's special attention to the incident at the National Credit Information Center (CIC), many subjects have released a series of fake information about data leaks at other agencies and organizations. This news quickly spread on social networks, forums and online discussion groups, targeting many important fields such as energy, banking, transportation, delivery, etc.
After conducting a quick check and verification with relevant parties, especially checking the information field structure and sample data, NCA found that these were fake news, with no basis in fact. What is more worrying is that some unwary users continued to share and comment on these contents, increasing the information noise, making it difficult to verify and handle.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Head of the NCA Technology Department, said that fake news about data leaks at this time is causing relevant agencies and organizations to spend a lot of effort to check and verify, wasting resources and resources. Fake news on cyberspace is an intentional activity aimed at lowering the reputation of organizations, causing public confusion and potentially leading to fraudulent behavior on cyberspace. In fact, spreading fake news not only has immediate impacts but also leaves long-term consequences, affecting digital trust, putting businesses and users at risk of being scammed, and destabilizing the business and social environment.
NCA recommends that Vietnamese internet users join hands to build a safe and healthy online environment, saying no to fake news. Specifically, absolutely do not share or spread unverified information from official sources; always check and compare information through official media channels before trusting or sharing; be vigilant against possible forms of fraud, especially those that exploit fake news for personal gain.
