Spreading fake news not only has immediate effects but also leaves long-term consequences (Illustration: ST).

This news quickly spread on social networks, forums and online discussion groups, targeting many important fields such as energy, banking, transportation, delivery, etc.

After conducting a quick check and verification with relevant parties, especially checking the information field structure and sample data, the National Cyber Security Association found that these were fake news with no factual basis.

What is more worrying is that some unwary users continue to share and comment on this content, increasing information confusion and making verification and handling difficult.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Son - Head of Technology Department, National Cyber Security Association said: "Fake news about data leaks at this time is causing relevant agencies and organizations to spend a lot of effort to check and verify, wasting resources and time."

Fake news on the internet is an intentional activity aimed at discrediting an organization, causing public confusion and potentially leading to fraudulent behavior on the internet.

In reality, the spread of fake news not only has immediate impacts but also leaves long-term consequences, affecting digital trust, putting businesses and users at risk of being scammed, and destabilizing the business and social environment.

The National Cyber Security Association calls on Internet users to join hands in building a safe and healthy online environment and saying no to fake news.

Never share or spread information that has not been verified from official sources. Always check and compare information through official media channels before trusting or sharing.

Be aware of potential scams, especially those that exploit fake news for profit.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 11, the Vietnam Cyberspace Emergency Response Center (VNCERT) announced a personal data leak incident at the National Credit Information Center (CIC).

Accordingly, the initial verification results show signs of cybercrime attacks and intrusions to steal personal data. The amount of data illegally appropriated is being continued to be counted and clarified.
