Beware of tricks of "exam preparation centers"

As of the end of April 2023, the HSA Exam has received 88,910 registrations for the 2023 exam. The percentage of candidates taking the exam in March and April reached 97.3% (43,761 candidates). The exam results are used by 74 universities for admission. With that nature, many exam preparation groups have created virtual accounts, pretending to be candidates who have just scored 126/150 points and sharing that they answered the questions of the exam preparation group correctly. If not alert, candidates will be fooled, causing waste, pressure, and ineffectiveness when the exam periods are near.

In response to fake information about the HSA Exam, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center of VNU, affirmed: "In addition to organizing the exam, we always listen to feedback from society about the HSA Exam through information channels. At this time, no candidate scored 126 points. Fake accounts talk about getting the questions about huts, kites... but in fact, we do not have such questions in the current exam bank."

Regarding the repetition rate of questions, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao confirmed that there is a rate of less than 0.5% of repeated questions because the computer works objectively by scanning from the question bank drawn from the exam data bank. With the number of 43,761 candidates taking the exam in the past time, the absolute probability of duplicate questions is extremely low. According to the HSA exam regulations of VNU, candidates who intentionally disclose part of the exam question data after the end of the exam will have their exam results canceled and the relevant parties will be notified for handling.

Recently, VNU has verified a number of cases where candidates in Hanoi, Bac Giang, and Thai Binh revealed exam questions and were disciplined according to regulations. Some candidates reported that exam preparation groups sent people to take the exam to "remember" the questions and practice for the exam. Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao said: "For the questions that exam preparation groups mentioned, we checked and verified and removed them from the question bank if the content was more than 50% similar. Up to now, we have recorded a few questions in the fields of language and literature that candidates did not remember correctly and discussed on forums that have been temporarily locked."

The Director of the VNU Examination Center also reminded candidates that the repetition of a literary work in the exam does not mean that the questions are repeated. The literary work is only the context and material for constructing the questions. The same context but the rhetorical devices, form, emotions, comments, spelling, and expression for each type of question in each exam are different. Therefore, candidates will encounter a literary work again but the questions will be different. This does not happen in the questions in the fields of mathematics, natural sciences , and technology.

“Regarding the organization of the exam, VNU has a regulation to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security , including the item on protecting the safety of the HSA exam. We will collect information and transfer files to the relevant units for handling in the coming time,” emphasized Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao.
