Ba Ria - Vung Tau With a cut score of +6, the entire Vietnamese team only had Nguyen Anh Minh and Truong Chi Quan to qualify for the final round of the international professional golf tournament at The Bluffs par71 course.

The Lexus Challenge 2024 features three stroke play rounds competing for a prize fund of $85,000, attracting 138 golfers. Vietnam has 28 professional representatives and 13 amateurs.

The cut-off point is determined at +6 according to the principle of taking top or T50 at the end of round 2 this afternoon, March 14. At this time, Anh Minh is T17, Chi Quan is T37. This position correlation is opposite to the opening round, when Chi Quan was T24 (+2), and Anh Minh was T33 (+3).

Today, Chi Quan scored +3, bringing his tournament score up to +5, dropping him to T37. Meanwhile, Anh Minh scored +1 at the halfway point. However, Vietnam's number one amateur played better later on, showing off his three birdies and no bogeys. Thanks to that, the 17-year-old golfer from Hanoi raised his tournament score to +1 and moved up 16 places to T17.

The tournament has one round left and is expected to end on the afternoon of March 15. In theory, Anh Minh still has a chance to compete for the cup when he is five strokes away from the top of the table. The leading position belongs to two Thai golfers - Itthipat Buranatanyarat and Sangchai Kaewcharoen, both at -4. This is a decrease of one point compared to round 1.

Lexus Challenge launched in 2019, from 2022 to the top of the VGA Tour schedule, the very year of the opening of the professional golf competition system hosted by the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA).

At the end of January 2024, VGA signed a cooperation agreement with the Asian Tour, thereby determining that the Lexus Challenge will start and share the same location for the 2024 season with the Asian Development Tour. This is considered a stepping stone to the first-class arena with the same name as the host organization.

The agreement between VGA Tour and Asian Tour follows the popular co-sponsorship model in international golf, which is considered a bridge to create competition opportunities and career development for professional golfers, similar to the DP World Tour with the PGA Tour and Sunshine Tour of South Africa, or the Asian Tour with LIV Golf League.
