While the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance proposed to allocate the headquarters of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Administrative - Political Center (old) to two universities to use as educational facilities, both Saigon University and Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University affirmed that they had never proposed to request this headquarters and had no need to use it.

Proposed plan for university education facility

According to the report of the HCM City Department of Finance, many departments and agencies have relocated to HCM City, causing the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Administrative - Political Center to only use a small area to arrange work and handle transitional work.

To ensure the effective operation of this headquarters according to the Prime Minister's direction to prioritize the arrangement for healthcare, education, and culture, during the previous review process, the Department of Finance found that there were two units in need of using the headquarters of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Administrative - Political Center, including Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and Saigon University.

Of which, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine is managing 4 real estate facilities, while Saigon University is managing 3 facilities and one facility has been recovered but has not been assigned land in another location.

Therefore, the Department of Finance has proposed a plan to arrange the administrative and political center of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for Saigon University to serve as an educational facility.

In addition, in recent days, many lecturers and students of Saigon University have also been excited by the news that the school will hand over its current headquarters at 273 An Duong Vuong, Cho Quan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City to move to Ba Ria Ward.

Two universities rejected the proposal, saying "never applied"

However, speaking with Tuoi Tre, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hoang Quan, principal of Saigon University, affirmed: "The school has not received any documents from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance regarding the assignment of the headquarters of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Administrative - Political Center. In fact, the school only proposed to request a few hectares of land in the Ba Ria area, which is completely unrelated to the return of the school's current headquarters at 273 An Duong Vuong."

Similarly, Associate Professor, Doctor of Pharmacy Nguyen Dang Thoai - Vice Principal in charge of operations at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine - also denied the information that the school wanted to receive the headquarters of the Administrative - Political Center of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

"That is just a proposal from the HCM City Department of Finance. Our school has never had a written request and currently does not lack training facilities, so there is no need to receive the above center," Mr. Thoai affirmed.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics officially proposed to receive Ba Ria - Vung Tau Administrative Center

Meanwhile, speaking with Tuoi Tre on the morning of September 24, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics confirmed that the university had sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Finance proposing to receive the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province Administrative - Political Center for the school to use in educational and training activities.

According to Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, with the number of training courses increasing according to learning needs, the school is seriously lacking in university space for studying, teaching, and research.

If assigned this headquarters, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics commits to implementing a plan to train high-quality human resources; carry out scientific research and innovation in the fields of marine economy, ocean technology, renewable energy, seaport logistics, tourism..., in accordance with the strategic position of the eastern region of Ho Chi Minh City.

Thousand billion administrative center

Currently, the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Administrative - Political Center (in Ba Ria Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) is still operating normally. The headquarters of agencies, departments and branches are still open for work, ensuring the provision of public services to organizations and individuals.

Construction began in 2007 on a land area of more than 20 hectares, completed and officially put into operation in May 2012. This is one of the first provincial-level administrative-political center projects in the country.

The center includes many modern office building clusters with a total investment of more than 1,000 billion VND, including: conference center, Provincial Party Committee headquarters, Provincial People's Committee headquarters, Party and mass organization agencies headquarters; government agency headquarters...
