This comes as the Democratic Party plans to push ahead with the nomination of US President Biden, who has pledged to run again in 2024.

President Biden had planned fundraisers in Austin, Denver and California next week, but those plans have been temporarily postponed after testing positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. However, he announced on Friday that he would return to the campaign trail next week.
Biden campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz said the fundraisers would go ahead as planned. A source said former comedian David Letterman will host a fundraiser for Biden at the home of Hawaii Governor Josh Green in about 10 days.
Several major donors have stopped giving amid questions about whether Mr. Biden should run again. The campaign hoped to raise about $50 million in large donations in July, but as of Friday, it had collected less than half that amount.
The Democratic National Convention Rules Committee met Friday to develop a process for voting online to formally nominate Biden before the in-person convention begins on Aug. 19 in Chicago. The early nomination is deemed necessary to comply with state election laws.
President Biden has been in quarantine since testing positive for COVID-19 this week. Some Democratic officials believe it is only a matter of time before Biden drops out. Biden has insisted he will continue running despite calls from key members of his party for him to step aside.
Several Democratic groups have begun advertising against Biden. The group "Pass the Torch" has launched a television ad in Washington and Rehoboth, Delaware, calling on Biden to "pass the torch."
Several major donors and former Democratic officials have publicly called on Mr. Biden to withdraw and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris instead.
The postponement of fundraisers and pressure from within the Democratic Party are posing many challenges for Mr. Biden's re-election campaign in the coming time.
