New Zealand Parliament Speaker: No difficulty in learning to cook Vietnamese food

New Zealand beef combined with Vietnamese fish sauce and wrapped in heart-shaped betel leaves is a symbol of the close and lasting relationship between the two countries.

As part of his official visit to Vietnam from July 24-31, today, Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee visited KOTO restaurant - a non-profit social enterprise famous for its vocational training program for disadvantaged youth in Vietnam.

Here, he personally prepared "beef wrapped in betel leaves" - a rustic, familiar dish in Vietnamese cuisine .

The Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament was excited about this experience and listened attentively to chef KOTO's introduction of how to prepare the dish: "New Zealand beef combined with Vietnamese fish sauce and wrapped in heart-shaped betel leaves is an image symbolizing the close and lasting relationship between the two countries."

After the instructions, Speaker Brownlee personally seasoned and rolled the grilled pork rolls. With his cooking skills, he performed the steps very skillfully without any difficulty.

Afterwards, he and the New Zealand delegation enjoyed the prepared grilled pork patties. All members of the delegation praised the dish. They said the dish had a delicious, unique and rich taste, both typical of Vietnamese cuisine and a close connection with high-quality New Zealand agricultural products.

President Gerry Brownlee and members of the delegation expressed their delight at experiencing a traditional Vietnamese dish right in Hanoi.

Also during this activity, National Assembly Chairman Brownlee had the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives of KOTO, HopeBox, Tohe and KymViet, four social enterprises with the mission of supporting and helping people in difficult circumstances and people with disabilities in Vietnam./.
