National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man offers incense in memory of President Ton Duc Thang

On the morning of October 11, towards the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026), Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the National Assembly delegation offered incense to commemorate President Ton Duc Thang at the special national relic site of President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site, Ong Ho Islet, My Hoa Hung Commune, An Giang Province.

Also attending were Central Party Committee members: Chairman of the Nationalities Council Lam Van Man; Chairman of the Law and Justice Committee Hoang Thanh Tung; Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Le Quang Tung; Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai; Permanent Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office Le Quang Manh and leaders of An Giang province.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the delegation respectfully offered incense and flowers to commemorate the great contributions of President Ton Duc Thang - an exemplary leader, a staunch communist, a shining example of revolutionary morality, and an outstanding son of An Giang.

Writing in the guest book here, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated, "Generations of National Assembly deputies vow to continue and promote the achievements of previous generations, firmly believe in the Party, unite, innovate, and strive to build a developed Vietnamese National Assembly, worthy of the trust and expectations of voters and people nationwide, contributing to bringing the country firmly into a new era of wealth, prosperity, and happiness for the people."

The National Assembly Chairman wished An Giang province to develop quickly and steadily, along with the country's development, worthy of being the homeland of President Ton Duc Thang; suggested that An Giang province regularly pay attention to the special national relic of President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site so that this place continues to be a red address for educating patriotism and revolutionary traditions, especially for the young generation.

President Ton Duc Thang (1888 - 1980) was a lifelong leader who devoted all his life to serving the revolution and the people, and was a symbol of the image of the Southern compatriots in the struggle to build and defend the Fatherland.

As a delegate of the first National Assembly of independent Vietnam (1946), on the National Assembly Presidium, soldier Ton Duc Thang, on behalf of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, solemnly declared his complete confidence in Uncle Ho Chi Minh to form a new Government. This was a declaration of history, of the people of the whole country, with absolute trust in leader Ho Chi Minh and readiness for a long-term resistance war.

From 1945 to 1954, Uncle Ton Duc Thang joined President Ho Chi Minh and led the Party and State in leading the resistance war for national construction. Uncle Ton Duc Thang held many important positions such as Head of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the Central Patriotic Emulation Movement Committee... Uncle Ton Duc Thang launched an emulation movement to mobilize forces to participate in the resistance war and national construction, along with promoting production and education; chaired many important meetings of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Lien Viet Front, contributing to the victory of our people's resistance war against French colonialism.

At the end of July 1954, President Ton Duc Thang, along with the two agencies of the National Assembly and the Lien Viet Front, left Tuyen Quang through Thai Nguyen to take over the capital Hanoi, continuing with President Ho Chi Minh, the Party Central Committee, the Government, the National Assembly, and the Front to lead the people to build socialism in the North, and fight to liberate the South and unify the country.

The memorial area of ​​President Ton Duc Thang in My Hoa Hung commune, An Giang province is about 6 hectares wide, displaying many artifacts and typical images associated with the childhood life and revolutionary career of President Ton Duc Thang.

+ At the special national relic site of President Ton Duc Thang, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the working delegation presented 100 gifts to policy households, meritorious people, and poor ethnic children of My Hoa Hung commune.
