Implementing the arrangement of neighborhoods and hamlets according to the Central regulations, An Thoi Dong commune, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City has terminated the activities of 114 people's groups and arranged 6 hamlets into 9 hamlets.

On April 13, the Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee of An Thoi Dong commune, Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council on the establishment, separation, merger, and renaming of neighborhoods and hamlets.

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai and leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Organizing Committee, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, and Can Gio district.

At the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai and leaders of the units presented flowers to congratulate the non-professional officials who were trusted to hold positions in the new hamlets.

Mr. Le The Phi, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Thoi Dong commune, acknowledged that the hamlet and people's group model existed since the early days of the government's establishment.

During this process, the commune-level organizations have operated effectively, contributing to socio -economic development, ensuring national defense and security at the grassroots level. This model has practiced expanding grassroots democracy and is meaningful to stability and development at the grassroots level.

However, according to the Central regulations, the rearrangement of hamlets is to be consistent with the whole country. Up to now, An Thoi Dong commune has terminated the activities of 114 people's groups, and at the same time rearranged 6 hamlets into 9 hamlets, including: An Binh, An Hoa 1, An Hoa 2, An Nghia 1, An Nghia 2, Doi Lau 1, Doi Lau 2, An Dong and Rach La.

Recognizing the contributions of hamlet and people's group cadres during this time, the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Thoi Dong commune assessed that these people are close to the grassroots, enthusiastic, dedicated, emotional and responsible towards the community. They even sacrificed their time and effort for the common work at the grassroots.

According to Mr. Phi, after the reorganization, operations in the hamlets encountered some difficulties such as thin forces, shared hamlet headquarters, and lack of facilities.

The Party Committee - People's Committee of the commune will promptly resolve any difficulties and problems that arise during the implementation of tasks. First of all, it is necessary to equip facilities, continue to supplement and improve the semi-professional police force, hamlet team leaders... At the same time, it will rotate activities at shared headquarters, causing the least disruption and affecting the thoughts, feelings and activities of the people.

Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Le Tan Phong, Party cell secretary and head of An Nghia 2 hamlet, said that he will try harder to mobilize the masses, actively participate and take the lead in patriotic emulation movements launched by the commune and hamlet, gradually contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of local people.

Mr. Phong will strive to overcome difficulties and obstacles, quickly bring the hamlet's activities to meet the people's wishes and expectations, and be an extension of the government to the people.

In the past, Ho Chi Minh City applied the model below wards, communes, and towns with 2 levels: neighborhoods, hamlets, and residential groups, people's groups, which is not in accordance with the regulations of the Central Government. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City has reorganized and abolished the residential groups and people's groups.

After the arrangement of neighborhoods and hamlets, Ho Chi Minh City has 4,861 newly established neighborhoods and hamlets (from 27,377 organizations, a decrease of 20,516 organizations); streamlining personnel from 64,293 people to 43,749 people, a decrease of 20,544 people. Reducing the number of households in old neighborhoods and hamlets to 500 households for wards and towns and 350 households for communes.

Each neighborhood and hamlet has 5 positions receiving monthly allowances, including Party cell secretary; neighborhood chief; head of the front work committee; head of the women's association; and secretary of the youth union.
