Many "oases" appeared in Chuong My after the flood

TPO - As of the morning of September 12, Chuong My district had 34 flooded hamlets with 2,344 households. Of which, Nam Phuong Tien commune was completely isolated.

Up to now, Chuong My district has evacuated 1,296 households with 5,444 people to safety. Currently, the district continues to evacuate households in flooded areas to safety.

Tan Tien is one of the communes severely affected by floods. Talking to Tien Phong Newspaper on September 12, Mr. Vu Cong Nam, Chairman of Tan Tien Commune People's Committee, said that due to the rising water level of Bui River, the commune has 2 villages severely flooded with more than 400 households affected. Of which, the commune has evacuated more than 170 households to safety.

According to the reporter, the whole Tien Tien village was flooded from 60cm to 2m. Some places were flooded up to 4-5m deep. People had to use boats to move from inside the village to outside.

Many houses in Tien Tien village (Tan Tien commune) were flooded up to the roof.

Mrs. Nga and Mr. Luu's family is one of the highest places in the village but it was also flooded up to 1 meter deep.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (Tien Tien village) is cooking rice. She said that the water level of the Bui River is rising very quickly. Currently, the water level this year is 40cm higher than the flood in 2018 and about 60cm higher than the flood in July 2024.

Mr. Trinh Van Vien (34 years old, Tien Tien village) volunteered to take reporters and volunteers to help people who were deeply flooded. He said that it had been decades since he had seen the Bui River rise so high. His family was able to evacuate people and property to a safe place.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung said that what people in flooded areas like him need most is clean water for daily use.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui, Vice Chairwoman of Nam Phuong Tien Commune People's Committee, said that due to deep flooding, all roads leading into the commune have been blocked. In the photo, a road from Tan Tien Commune Road to Nam Phuong Tien has been blocked due to deep flooding.

Ms. Mui said that in Nam Phuong Tien commune, there were 4 villages with more than 800 households flooded. The commune People's Committee evacuated all residents to safe temporary shelters.

People used tricycles to move their belongings to safety.

Flooded people buy food for daily use

A relief team transported necessities and drinking water to Tien Tien village to support flooded people.
