There have been more efforts in infrastructure construction, construction and development of tourism products in the southern regions of the province. After the three localities of Tam Ky - Nui Thanh - Phu Ninh joined hands to realize the signing of cooperation in tourism development (September 2022), the linked tourism products began to take shape.

From Tam Ky city, a boat dock and check-in point at Bai Say - Song Dam, restoring some infrastructure at Ky Anh tunnels to create connections and open river tourism routes.

Community tourism is also given more attention with investment in roads at Huong Tra eco-village; opening check-in points, boat docks, and small flower gardens at Ca Ban community tourism village.

In 2023, the Ky Anh tunnels and Tam Thanh community art village were recognized as tourist destinations by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Also last year, Tam Ky organized the Tam Ky Discovery 2023 marathon for the first time with the participation of thousands of locals and tourists.

Along with sports tourism, tourism on digital platforms of this locality is also developing strongly with the project "1-touch tourism" - exploring Tam Ky anywhere via digital devices.

In Nui Thanh district, sea tourism and eco-tourism destinations have gradually added and improved their products and services. Some gardens and houses have been converted into fruit gardens and homestays to serve the needs of tourists for sightseeing and experience.

Meanwhile, Phu Ninh district has issued a plan to support the development of community tourism models in Tam Lanh commune. With the advantage of natural landscapes, this locality is trying to complete a tourism program focusing on exploring and experiencing green activities such as cycling, mountain climbing, trekking to explore primeval forests, planting trees to preserve the environment...

Improvement of the tourism environment is a big highlight of all three localities in the recent period. In addition to action programs from the government, the active participation of tourism businesses and local communities has helped the tourism environment, especially the marine environment in this area, to improve significantly to "score points" in the eyes of tourists.

Long-term opening

Improving tourism labor capacity is also an issue that localities focus on with the goal of sustainably maintaining existing tourist destinations.

Currently, Tam Ky is focusing on training more than 300 workers on community tourism skills and accommodation service business skills. Nui Thanh is strengthening training on community tourism and tour guiding skills in the Tam Tien and Tam Hai coastal tourist areas.

Meanwhile, Phu Ninh focuses on organizing training courses and updating tourism skills for the workforce and residents in the area, direct and indirect beneficiaries, to gradually change awareness from the local community.

Besides the positive signals, the connection to promote tourism in the three southern localities still has a lot of work to do. The participation of the private sector, which plays a decisive role in the development of the tourism sector here, is still unclear.

Not to mention, in addition to the number of guests staying at tourist facilities, visitors to the southern part of the province are mainly seasonal, concentrated at certain times during events and festivals and the number is not large.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Dan - Vice Chairman of Nui Thanh District People's Committee said that currently, 3 localities have invited the Institute of Green Technology Development to advise and complete the outline of tourism products and tourism routes for connection. This is an important foundation for this area to move towards developing green and sustainable tourism according to the general orientation of the province.

Considered the hub of southern tourism, a number of zoning plans related to tourist attractions in Tam Ky have been approved for adjustment, such as: zoning 12 related to Tam Thanh community art village, zoning 10 related to Ky Anh tunnels, zoning 3 related to Huong Tra eco-village.

In addition, Tam Ky is planning to establish a community tourism village of Ca Ban and build a strategic plan for developing the economic community art tourism of Tam Thanh commune. In 2024, Tam Ky City aims to welcome 430,000 visitors, of which 15,000 will be international visitors.
