Posthumous Certificate of Merit awarded to brave man who saved 3 children swept away by flood water

On the afternoon of October 1, comrade Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of several departments and branches, visited and encouraged the family of comrade Phan Van Thanh, Head of the security and order protection force in Xuan Ha 1 hamlet, Thanh Cong commune, who unfortunately died while participating in the rescue of a drowning case.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee encouraged the relatives of comrade Phan Van Thanh to soon overcome the grief and stabilize their lives.

Due to the impact of storm No. 10, since September 29, heavy rains have occurred in Thai Nguyen province, causing flooding in many places. At around 7:30 a.m. on October 1, in Xuan Ha 1 hamlet, Thanh Cong commune, three children were swept away by the water. Comrade Phan Van Thanh, head of the security and order protection force, and two nearby residents, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung and Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, did not fear the danger and jumped into the water to save them. After bringing the children to shore, due to the deep water, Comrade Thanh was exhausted and was swept away. At 9:00 a.m. the same day, the rescue team found his body at the accident site.

At the family, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Loan shared the loss with relatives, expressed her condolences and acknowledged the heroic spirit of saving people of comrade Phan Van Thanh, and encouraged the family to overcome the grief and soon stabilize their lives.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the local Party Committee and authorities to continue to care for, encourage and support comrade Phan Van Thanh's family both materially and spiritually. At the same time, requested the local authorities and relevant units to promptly complete the dossier to posthumously award comrade Thanh with various forms of commendation, ensuring compliance with regulations.

In recognition of his bravery in saving people, the Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee posthumously awarded a Certificate of Merit to comrade Phan Van Thanh; and to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung and Mr. Nguyen Van Doan.
