On July 29, at the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, during the meeting with Ms. Hirose Noriko - Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Ambassador in Aichi Province (Japan), Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, expressed many opportunities to both strengthen the relationship between the two countries and aim for the development of Ho Chi Minh City.

The city has many opportunities to exchange with the ambassador.

Mr. Dung said that Aichi province and Ho Chi Minh City have had a close sisterhood relationship for nearly 10 years, since 2016, with many exchange activities in many fields: tourism, culture, education, economy ...

Highly appreciated the Vietnamese festivals in Aichi that Ms. Hirose Noriko, the ambassador, organized and directly managed from 2008 to present.

"That event not only promotes Ho Chi Minh City in Japan but also makes the friendship between Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Aichi province more vivid. In September 2026, the 10th anniversary of the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Aichi province, the city will have a program and activities to organize this important event," Mr. Dung informed.

Assessing the tourism ambassador's visit at a very special time, Mr. Dung said that July 29 marked the city's 28th day of implementing the central program to merge provinces and cities.

Ho Chi Minh City merged from Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, increasing the population to more than 14 million people with an area of ​​6,772 km 2. Binh Duong is the industrial capital of the South with 33 hubs of export processing zones, industrial parks and Ba Ria - Vung Tau has advantages of ports, logistics, sea tourism... are opportunities for the city to discuss with her in the coming time.

In addition, during the reception of Ms. Hirose Noriko, Mr. Dung also discussed key city programs for the Japanese side to pay attention and support.

That is the International Financial Center in Vietnam located in Ho Chi Minh City, this is the strategic priority of the city, together with the formation of industrial clusters, logistics, green strategies... This is the strength of Japan, of Aichi.

"The city hopes to receive support from Japanese businesses to come to Ho Chi Minh City to explore cooperation. On the other hand, the city has marine resources and hopes to cooperate to share marine tourism potential and develop sea and island tourism," Mr. Dung emphasized.

Vietnam Festival 2025 will be held in Japan in November

At the meeting with the city leaders, Ms. Hirose Noriko shared that she has been working in Vietnam for 30 years since 1996, first in Vinh Long province (formerly Ben Tre province) and then associated with Ho Chi Minh City and has a special affection for Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Hirose Noriko informed the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City about two contents.

Firstly, in September 2025, Aichi University will come to Saigon University to sign a ceremony to help students from both countries exchange. And Aichi Prefecture has 63,000 Vietnamese people living and working, is the province with the largest Vietnamese population in Japan, and is expected to have an effective exchange program.

Second, with Vietnam Festival, since its first event in 2008 and a regular major cultural exchange event between Vietnam and Japan, in 2024 it will be held at a large square, attracting 130,000 attendees; Vietnam Festival 2025 will be held on November 8 and 9 at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo.

Regarding this information, Mr. Dung said that Ho Chi Minh City will send a coordinating agency, universities from both sides to sign, the cultural and social sector will discuss to organize student exchanges to sign; Vietnam Festival in Aichi 2025, the city will send a delegation to participate directly.

Propose to have more shopping tours and beach tourism products in Ho Chi Minh City beach

According to Ms. Hirose Noriko, Japanese tourists who like to travel to Vietnam often choose Da Nang City when choosing a beach tour because there are many direct flights.

With the new administrative boundaries, to help Japanese tourists know more about Ho Chi Minh City's beaches, Ms. Hirose Noriko proposed having many shopping tours and beach tourism products in Ho Chi Minh City's beaches to attract Japanese tourists to know more about the beaches in the city named after Uncle Ho.

"I will promote the sea in Ho Chi Minh City in the upcoming festival," Ms. Hirose Noriko emphasized.

Mr. Dung added that in the near future, Ho Chi Minh City's sea and island tourism will expand, and the city is asking for permission to develop the special tourist area of ​​Con Dao.
