Vam Co Commune Police handed over a rare turtle to the Tay Ninh Provincial Forest Protection Department for reception and care before releasing it into the natural environment.

On October 6, according to information from the Vam Co Commune Police, during a night patrol to ensure security and order in the area, the Vam Co Commune Police discovered a rare turtle crawling on the dike.

Vam Co Commune Police handed over the turtle to the Provincial Forest Protection Department.

The working group quickly seized the turtle, made a record and brought it to the headquarters for preservation, awaiting handover to the authorities. The turtle was identified as a Toothed Turtle, scientific name Heosemys annandalii, weighing about 10kg.

Immediately afterwards, the police force of Vam Co commune handed over the turtle to the Tay Ninh Provincial Forest Protection Department for reception and care before releasing it back into the natural environment.

Vam Co Commune Police call on people to raise awareness in protecting wild animals; when discovering cases of captivity or encountering rare animals, it is necessary to immediately notify the authorities for handling, contributing to preserving biodiversity and protecting the natural environment./.
