According to Iran's state news agency IRNA , speaking at the UN General Assembly meeting, Mr. Pezeshkian stated: "We are ready to cooperate with the parties to the 2015 nuclear deal. If the commitments of the agreement are fully and in good faith, dialogue on other issues can be conducted."
Earlier, speaking on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi also affirmed that his country is ready to launch new negotiations on the 2015 nuclear deal, signed between Iran and the P5+1 group (including the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany), also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Iran has shown more willingness to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after talks in New York, although its nuclear program continues at its usual pace, according to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi.
Also during the new Iranian President's activities in New York, according to AFP news agency, on September 24, the leader met with his Iranian counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
The French President's office issued a statement saying that Mr. Macron told his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian that bilateral relations would only improve if Tehran immediately released three French citizens detained in the country.
Previously, President Macron had two phone calls with Mr. Pezeshkian when tensions increased between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Shi'ite militia movement in Lebanon.
