On the evening of October 18, the audience was surprised to see striker Le Cong Vinh coming down to the field to congratulate coach Van Sy Son on his debut draw. Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) was held to a 1-1 draw by Cong An Ha Noi in round 7 of V-League 2025-2026.
It was thought that Cong Vinh and his hometown team would reunite after the disagreements in November 2024. At that time, SLNA announced Cong Vinh as head coach but the former Nghe An star denied it.
As time passed, Cong Vinh still kept in touch with his old team. Now he has a job to return to practice while studying for a professional coach B license course in Vietnam.
The B-level program is jointly organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The lecturer is the VFF Technical Director, Mr. Koshida Takeshi.
The first phase of the B-license course opened on September 9 and ended on September 19 in Ha Tinh . Cong Vinh was the class monitor. In the second phase, 24 students will report their practice to FIFA representatives.
The former player is not part of a professional football team. Therefore, Cong Vinh has asked for permission to practice at the U17 and U15 Song Lam Nghe An teams for one week, until October 26 to make a report.
Phase 2 of the B-level training course will take place in Ho Chi Minh City in November 2025. Cong Vinh hopes to be well prepared for the practical test and achieve good results upon graduation.
Previously, Cong Vinh declared that he did not want to be a coach, but now he is studying and his goal is to get a Pro license. He shared with Tuoi Tre Online about his meaning and goal:
"When you study for a Pro degree, you can not only be a coach but also a manager. Studying helps me acquire more scientific knowledge, new and modern things in the field of football management," Cong Vinh said.
