The Can Tho Oncology Hospital project has a total initial investment of more than 1,700 billion VND (including ODA capital from Hungary and domestic counterpart funds), with a scale of 500 beds. Construction started in October 2017 and is expected to be completed after 3 years (end of 2020). The project is expected to become the largest and most modern oncology hospital in the Mekong Delta region.

However, in 2022, the Can Tho Oncology Hospital project was temporarily suspended when it reached 82% of the construction volume and more than 16% of the equipment supply and installation. Since then, the hospital building has been exposed to the sun and rain, with weeds growing everywhere.
