(Dan Tri) - In addition to strictly patrolling to ensure traffic safety during the days before Lunar New Year, Krong Buk Traffic Police Station also invites drivers of night vehicles to drink coffee to stay awake for long journeys.

On the afternoon of January 23, Captain Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Head of the Krong Buk Traffic Police Station, Dak Lak Traffic Police Department, said that the unit organized the model "Drive alert, drive safely for thousands of miles", deploying a free coffee distribution point for drivers traveling at night when passing through the area.

Accordingly, the Krong Buk Traffic Police Station chose the location at km94, Ea H'leo district, as a place to control nighttime traffic of goods and passengers and offer free coffee and tea to drivers.

When asking drivers to stop their vehicles, in addition to strictly controlling compliance with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, the Krong Buk Traffic Police Station will remind drivers to drive safely, at the allowed speed, and in cases where drivers show signs of abnormality, they will be tested for drugs.

"We hope that drivers, especially those transporting people back to their hometowns to celebrate Lunar New Year, must strictly follow traffic laws and stay alert, avoiding drowsiness when traveling long distances. We should offer drivers hot cups of coffee to encourage them," Captain Thanh shared.

On the very first day of implementation, the free coffee point welcomed nearly 100 drivers from many provinces and cities across the country.

The Deputy Head of Krong Buk Traffic Police Station added that the model will be deployed until after Lunar New Year to encourage drivers to drive safely.

Nguyen Van Nam, a bus driver on the Gia Lai - Ho Chi Minh City route, said he was very surprised when the Dak Lak traffic police signaled to stop the bus for inspection, offered free coffee, and reminded the driver to drive safely to take people home to celebrate Tet with their families.

"During the days leading up to Lunar New Year, we drivers have a hard time as our travel schedules are quite busy to serve the people. With the affection of the Traffic Police in Dak Lak, we drivers feel warm and are more aware of our responsibilities when transporting passengers long distances," said driver Nam.
